My daughter left her camera in our room, which we did not know until a few hours after leaving the hotel when we got a call from the hotel, informing us that a camera had been found in the room by the maids. Since we live in Guatemala City, the kind person in charge took the camera to the bus... More

Nice small hotel. Beautiful bungalows with private bad en good muskieto nettings. Book exchange and pool table. Food is ok. You can swim from the deck. Location is excellent. They pick you up from town. Advice: a couple relaxing chairs/beds on the deck and restaurant

Well, the title says it all. I stayed here with some friends while we were traveling through Guatemala and Honduras, and we had the time of our lives here. If you like amazing food where everything is cooked fresh in the kitchen, incredible rooms and a very unique atmosphere, go to Tortugal. The small down of Fronteras is just a... More

Had a wonderful couple of days here, could have stayed longer but had to go home. Good food , lovely cabins, fantastic location. The Cinnamon buns are to die for. Everyone helpful and friendly. Would definitely go again if in Guatemala. Had a good walk to the fort and boat back, also visited Livingstone from here. A good place to... More

We loved our time at Tortugal. The bungalows were great, I can understand some people's points about the lack of sound barrier, but we were there with friends and it was alright. Easy to sleep with the sounds of the jungle when being used to the usual noise of Guatemalan streets. Beautiful location and pretty good food. The breakfast burrito... More

Probably the best value we experienced in over 3 weeks in Guatemala. Right on the river, only minutes from the awfulness of downtown Fronteras but a world away in terms of where you want to be. After a long and vile journey from Xela to Rio Dulce we were just about all in when "Rhum" from the Tortugal picked us... More

We really enjoyed our bungalow stay here. The location is simply beautiful (sunrise is worth waking up for), there's a nice little boardwalk to explore, free kayaks, a great library/book exchange and a large TV in the common room. There's also a swim raft with a couple of lounge chairs on it and pulley-style bucket service to the bar. There... More

Thank you for your review. I am sorry about the lack of privacy, it is something we definitely want to change. Not yet sure how to do it but we will figure it out. More

I had a wonderful stay at the Tortugal and would have liked to stay longer but all beds were booked already. So, I only stayed two nights in the open air loft El Ranchito. It is a four bed dormitory on the second floor overlooking the marina. It was absolutely wonderful lying in my bed overlooking the river and the... More

Tortugal is awesome! Manuel and the staff took such great care of us, going above and beyond on little details that made our stay amazing. The place is beautiful, with fun central areas (great food) and a maze of docks right on the lake. The location is central, making it an easy spot to head out on adventures to Livingston,... More

Our family of four stayed in the hostel, which consists of four beds upstairs in a thatch-roof shelter (no walls) built on a section of the yacht dock. (Rained hard all one day -- the thatch never leaked, though all the geckos came inside.) Each mosquito-netted bed had an associated large, lockable trunk that could easily fit a backpacker's gear....
