My wife and I were planning our honeymoon to Peru and I really wanted an authentic ayahuasca experience to be part of it. We're both very spiritual people and I am a hypnotherapist who focuses on people's spiritual development, so I felt that I could learn from ayahuasca. After a lot of research Refugio Altiplano seemed like a perfect fit.... More

If you have decided to spend some time in the Peruvian forest by now you might be feeling as overwhelmed as I did when I started looking for “the” place. There are so many possibilities and most shelters look quite good… so why would you say yes to Refugio Altiplano? Because every single positive review you read in this web... More

I stayed at Refugio mid-February 2013. It has taken me a couple of months to even begin to wrap my head around all the gifts that came to me. The folks that work at this place are angels. Having Pamela pick me up at the airport was such a comfort and started my trip off on a high note. The... More

this would be a personal experience. if you don't know what I mean by "personal experience", research before booking a ticket to a tea pot filled with mud, rain, and mosquito. Scott has successfully convinced me that he is serious about his practice in Shamanism and ensures the best for each guest. Staff is a group of really nice people... More

I most recently visited the Refugio in February 2013, although it was not my first visit. It has been one of my life's great priveleges to see how the Refugio has grown in that time. Without doubt, they are busy these days. Of course, I would love to be able to spend more time with Scott and the other shamans,... More

It´s one of the best and most important experiences of my life! I came down to Refugio in fear of the place not reflecting the all good reviews I had read, because all of them seemed to be too fantastic. But this place proved me wrong from the time I left the airport in Iquitos! I met the lovely guides... More

I can't praise Refugio enough. It was an unbelievably good experience from the start. Scott is a charismatic healer who speaks English and conducts ayahuasca ceremonies where you feel really comfortable.. The huts are surrounded by nature and the service is top notch..one gets to meet fantastic people and its is NOT ' commercial' in the usual sense. It's a... More

GOOOOOOOO!!!!!! So I just returned from 10 days at Refugio. The moment you step off that boat and arrive at the retreat, the learning begins. Scott is awesome, and the entire staff really help make the stay extra special. They are there for you, for whatever you need. The grounds are beautiful, the food is good. The ceremonies are out... I went with a buddy in December 2012. A very long trip from Toronto but the flights we chose seemed to be optimal choices. Flew through Miami then into Lima for a short layover. Timed arrival into Lima for around midnight. The connection to Iquitos was at 6am so we were able to get a couple hrs sleep at the... More

As I was lying in my comfortable bed located inside my cozy house at Refugio Altiplano, a thought popped into my head: when I get back to the states, there will no words to describe what a life-changing, spiritual, healing, experience Refugio Altiplano has been. As I am writing this, I still believe that no words can adequately describe the... More
