What a treat to be allowed to stay in this beautiful old house. Our room overlooked the valley and we could see Middleham Castle in the distance. The room had a TV with a collection ofDVD's t and loads of books. The owners were really helpfull and booked a taxi for us prior to our arrival to enable us to... More

We've just had a lovely weekend at Thorney Hall. The accommodation was beautiful and very comfortable, breakfast was delicious, and the whole place was very quiet and peaceful. The owners were very kind, friendly and thoughtful. We had a couple of lovely meals out at nearby pubs. Unfortunately the weather was very cold and wet so we didn't explore the... More

First class accommodation and wonderful breakfast - huge portions. Welcoming and friendly - it was my sons birthday and not only was there a birthday banner but singing hamster and birthday card - perfect for an11 year old. Beautifully decorated house, quiet and calm. Couldn't recommend it more highly and will definitely go back.

We went to Thorney Hall to celebrate my wife's 75th birthday. We had a nightmare drive up on the M1 on a Friday night in the rain (no change there then!) and were clearly going to arrive a lot later than we had said. We phoned from somewhere around Sheffield to say that we were running a good two and... More

Thorney Hall lived up to our expectations. A warm welcome and hospitality from Jan. B&B in opulent surroundings. Bedroom was extremely comfortable with a luxurious en suite and thoughtful extras such as DVD's and books. Breakfast was served in superb dining room and was of the highest quality. We would certainly recommend a holiday/ short break here.

Thank you for the lovely photographs. I am glad you enjoyed your stay in our home. We feel very fortunate to live in the heavenly Yorkshire Dales. I think James Herriot sums it up best:- 'Probably it was because I hadn't dreamed there was a place like the Dales. I had not thought it possible that I could spend all... More

This is a truly amazing place and the most luxurious bed & breakfast accommodation I have ever stayed in. Thorney Hall is like a small stately home and, as a guest, you experience that sense of real luxury but with the warmest of welcomes from Jan, the friendliest of hosts. Despite the formality of the house, the atmosphere is warm,... More

We had a lovely overnight stay after walking in the glorious Yorkshire dales. Comfy beds, faultless breakfast looking over the fields towards Middleham, in a nutshell it was splendour and comfort in with a friendly welcome.

Lovely country house set in own grounds. Host finalist in friendliest B&B competition, great bed & bedroom with stupendous views across Wensleydale, super breakfast ++ what more do you want from a B&B? Loved it and would recommend to anyone who thinks that it would appeal to them .
