We stayed here for a week. Fantastic building, original DC post office. Room perfectly good size, excellent soundproofing. Restaurant and bar a victim of their own success - disappointed that we couldn't always get a table.

I stayed at the Monaco in July of 2012 for a week. The hotel is very beautiful and has a real historic feel! The hotel is decorated nicely and our room was larger than I expected, we stayed on the first floor in a room facing the courtyard. The hotel is in the perfect location if you are in Washington... Stayed at the Monaco Washington DC last week for three nights. Absolutely loved it from beginning to end. The front desk staff was amazing -- they checked us into our room five hours early, provided clear directions, had great recommendations for food and stored our luggage between when we checked out and had to leave for our flight. Our room... More

The location is fantastic as the MCI Center/Penn Quarters area has become the new downtown. However, beautiful the building is, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. At best they are idiosyncratic and at worst almost unusable. There are better choices in the area, especially for business travelers.

Very central location, but small rooms that are overdecorated in a way that becomes impractical (e.g. there were two robes in animal prints that took up the entire hanging space of a very small closet). My room was in the basement with a window about 10 feet above the bed. The smoke alarm was taped to the wall with blue... More

Really fine location, lovely building, good restaurant, helpful folks, but a closet for a room. If there are two of you, only one gets a chair. Bath is functional and SMALL. At check in, we were told we had a corner room...must be a different definition of corner than mine. Bed had a sprung spring. Lots of noisy turns!

The Monaco prides itself on service to its guests. The rooms are nice and the beds comfy. The price is a bit high, however. Great location to attractions. Very convienent to Spy museum, Portrait Gallery, and Verizon center. The hotel is in an old building and you have to forgive some slight inconveniences, ie..slow elevators, hard to reach bathroom tissue... More

I just arrived home after a 12 day business trip to Washington, DC. I spent long days outside on the Nationl Mall overseeing the setup of a big event under a tent. What made me able to carry on was the bright and helpful early morning staff ( e.g. Front desk, bellmen and valet staff, etc.) at the Hotel Monaco.... More

I have stayed at the Monaco in D.C. several times. It is centrally located for business or tourism. You couldn't ask for a better location--close to major sites, transportation, and the Mall. Plus, the hotel is quite nice, well decorated and appointed. The staff always aim to please and are super friendly. On one prior visit, I arrived VERY early... More

I have stayed at the Hotel Monaco on 4 occasions and they were wonderful until this trip. We arrived around 1230 on Sunday and were told our suite was not ready. We gave Douglas our phone number to call us as soon as it was ready. When 3 o'clock came and we had not heard anything we went to the... More
