For the past couple years I've primarily stayed at the Mandarin Oriental and the Sofitel in DC. Both are first rate business hotels. Rooms, facilities and service are excellent at both. The primary differentiators for me are location. The Mandarin Oriental is a little off the beaten path. Its in a part of town that seems to roll up the... more

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and just loved it. Our room was extremely spacious. The bathroom was huge. Hotel amenities were outstanding. The lobby bar was always a great starting or ending point of our day. The hotel is a bit isolated from retail and dining, but, very close to the National Mall and all of the... more

Wow! Very, very nice. We had a room on a low floor but it was large and had a wonderful view of the Tidal Basin and harbor. The bathroom was very well appointed but I still cannot say enough about the size of our room. The lobby bar was a 'scene.' Nice! Every evening it was lively. Sometimes too lively.... more

The hotel itself is very nice, however the staff is a catastrophe... It started with the bellman who actually complained about the weight of my luggage (which was 45 lbs, so nothing out of the ordinary). The staff in total was very inattentive. I sat on the terrace on the first night of my stay, and even though there were... more

Did a last minute overnight in DC on a Friday night. Got a $235 rate for a standard room! The rooms are consistently elegant, comfortable, roomy, and elegantly appointed. Marble bathroom. They've recently upgraded to flatscreen TV's (they used to have big tube TV's). Very quiet room. You can use the spa facilities as a guest of the hotel, whether... more

Just finished having breakfast at the Sou'Wester at Mandarin Oriental and I was very disappointed. For a place that charges $12-15 for French Toast this was one of the worst dishes I've had in years. To begin with, the toast was half warm and the maple syrup seemed of the cheapest grade. I ordered a $7 latte that made me... more

My husband attended a conference in DC in July. We were able to choose from a list of over 20 DC area hotels and choose the Mandarin Oriental based on photos and reviews. We were a little concerned about the location and soon realized we loved the proximity to the Smithsonian museums and Holocaust Museum. It was only a short... more

I recently attended a conference in Washington, DC and this was the hotel booked for me. Upon arrival it was made clear to me that this hotel is just not for the likes of me. I realize I was not a businessman in a suit, but it's uncomfortable to feel that you are intruding on staff who have more important... more

Will post more- requested early check in- they're late to normal check in already. All I've gotten so far is second class treatment and an insincere apologie. After she noted this was our anniversary ...very sad more
