We were actually quite disappointed with our stay here, after looking forward very much to staying in the Mandarin Oriental for the first time. The ambiance was generically elitist, and the Tai pan club level rooms provided nothing extraordinary. The room was a lot smaller than we thought, even after being told that we would get one of the larger water... I travel to DC for professional meetings and the company frequently has us stay at the Mandarin Oriental. It is conveniently located near the Smithsonian, Metro stops, and a quick taxi ride form Reagan Airport. In general, this is a luxurious hotel with superb service, including very above average banquet food service. This last stay, however, I experienced a couple... More

What a wonderful hotel to stay in while visiting Washington DC. Located in the heart of things, just a five minute walk to the Smithsonian Castle or the Jefferson Memorial and just off of I-395. There is a parking garage and plenty of taxis to speed to around town, or the Metro is a short walk away. You will be... More

Great hotel with excellent staff. The rooms are really well decorated. The free shoe shine is a fantastic bonus, and they have the most frequent elevators. Never once did I need to wait; press the button and the doors open. The location is not remote. It is easy to walk everywhere, and they have plenty of taxis waiting. More

I have stayed here a couple of times on business. The hotel is luxurious with outstanding attentive staff. From the doormen to the front desk the check in process is speedy, friendly and easily accomplished. The rooms are perfect in their decor with huge, well supplied bathrooms. I think I could easily live in this hotel! Oh btw, there's a... More

If this hotel were anything but excellent, I would be disgusted considering the price. But I was very pleased with the hotel. Staff was exceptional. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Was there for a business meeting, so didn't get to do much within the hotel. (no spa or fitness center) Location is very nice. Right near the mall. Not convenient... More

Stayed 3 nights with my wife and son - couldn't fault the service of staff ... Friendly, welcoming and attentive. Rooms are very good ... We had a twin room ... Still a good size ... If one 1 bed size would be great.... Overlooked the Tiday Basin and Jefferson Memorial which was a great view. Had breakfast in the... More

If you want a luxury escape after days of walking and sightseeing this is for you! My daughter and did an overnight escape the week between Xmas and New Year's. We spent two days exploring museums on the mall, saw the White House and took a quick trip into Georgetown for dinner. Honestly, we should have stayed in the hotel... More

I attended a party at the Mandarin this evening and had another "mandarinizing" experience. I have never seen such amazing and creative food!! The chef made a Thai soup and created it into a gel form-unbelievable. Large spoons were passed and filled with grapefruit that was spiced in a Thai manner. They even had small encrusted filled puffs of beef... More

The hotel is very beautiful, specially the lobby and the bar areas. The rooms and bathrooms are huge and well decorated, tv was outdated. The best feature about this property is the SPA which has a relaxation room, a sauna, vapour, jacuzzi and pool, free of charge for guests, so if you like to relax after an exhausting day, the...
