I've stayed at the Madera twice in the last two months and while the rooms were clean and beds comfortable i think its one of the weaker kimpton properties. Its got the same great kimpton amenities.. ie $10 mini bar credit, free wifi which makes me a loyal kimpton customer but both times the shower faucet handle was broken or... More

I stayed at the Madera for work and loved my deluxe room! The reception area is tiny, but a nice place to gather around for wine hour in the evenings, or morning coffee. Nicole and Fernando were outstanding and I wish all hotels had staff like the two of them, super friendly, efficient, and very attentive. I was pleasantly surprised... More

First off, I have never stayed at a Kimpton Hotel before this one, however from general reputation and checking out their websites etc I was under the impression that this line of Hotels were on the swankier side. We stayed at the Madera Hotel for a birthday getaway in DC, so we splurged $ on the hotel. I was a... More

When you can ask for a decent green tea, get one...and not have to tell the check in staff what paper you want, but simply find the NY Times at the door in the AM...and when you leave, you wait no more than :45 seconds for your cab...you're in the right place.

This is my second time at the Madera Hotel. Yes it is true it doesn't have a grand entry, in fact there is not much of a lobby. The rooms have been redone, I had a deluxe king which was well appointed but very small and the bathroom was tiny even for a small person. It would have been very... More

Overall a very nice place. Front desk staff were friendlly and helpful, rooms were clean and well appointed. Very good location. We had a balcony room on the 6th floor so we had a nice view but some street noise is to be expected. The attached Firelfy restaurant wasn't so great but there are plenty of options close by. I... I love the Kimpton Hotels for the excellent service and slightly funky (in a good way) decor. The Madera didn't disappoint. The location of this hotel is also very convenient - right next to Dupont Circle metro stop and lots of food options nearby. But, what makes Madera stand out is the staff. Both Ms. Pleasant (I forgot her first... More

Hello Audrey H, we are so happy we didnt disappoint!!! Yes the Staff at the Hotel and Restaurant are what really makes the Madera so special. I'm so glad Nicole and Fernando provided with such great service. The little nibbles at Wine Hour are delicious and come directly from our Firefly Restaurant. They have started their new spring menu so... More

The only reason I didn't give the Madera five stars is because it's lacking an elegant feel or plush complimentary aspects to the stay. That said, it's a great hotel for its location, its spacious rooms and its attentive staff. A perfect spot for families or couples, especially if you want good value for the price. Parents still traveling in... More

We stayed with our two daughters at the Madera this weekend. The room was great...definitely worth the balcony (but would have liked a few chairs out there). Plenty of space, well appointed. Yes, the bathroom is not large, but, since the closet and sink are outside of the "bathroom" there was enough room for anything you need. The staff was... More

Arrived late Friday night. Not only they messed up my reservation, the receptionist was hostile and unfriendly. She even quoted me higher prices than what my reservation was booked for. I finally gave up arguing over money because she won't budge. An awful start and nothing about this hotel appeals to me. How can one feel good about this hotel... More

Hello Wildorchids81, this is definately not the first impression that we want to provide.I am very sorry this happened. As you can see from other reviewers, our service at the Madera is what we are known for. This is not a typical experience. I would love to speak to your further about this to get more details.
