I'd add a star to elvelasque's review of May 2011, but she is right on. A good inexpensive place to stay with wonderful friendly advice from management staff. Great service.

If you are looking for a high end B&B and or are accustomed to quality hotels, this place is certainly not for you. It's humble, simple and cute. In reality, Belize City is not a hot vacation spot.. so if you are looking to lounge and admire the community... huh... you might want to fly to San Pedro Ambergris Caye......

The room was spartan, sheets were so worn out, like gauze, holes in quilt. A resident dog barked outside our room most of the night and the aircon was so noisy we couldn't use it. Food was expensive for what we had and the room badly need paint. Ceiling had black mold. This was a $20.00 room not the $65.00...

We were diverted to Belize when the Volcano Pacaya erupted and we could not get any flights out while vacationing in Guatemala (The airports shut down for 3 days). When the bus arrived in Belize City, we decided to trust a taxi driver who gave a few suggestions and then waited with us at the Coningsby for the owner to...

My partner and I stayed here for one night in may before flying out of the country.
We wanted to stay in the hotel across the road, but was fully booked and to be honest I think i would rather take a chance sleeping on the street!! It was the worst hotel i have stayed in, and I have stayed...

I stayed at the Coningsby Inn for 4 nights recently when I went to Belize and really enjoyed myself. The staff are very sweet and helpful and the food is great! It's very affordable and clean (and I'm very picky!) and they will go out of their way to help you plan little adventures. It's in Belize City but it's...

This is not the cleaniest hotel, but the service is good, the place is safe (even tough it's in a bad neighborhood) and it's close to the banks, taxi ferry, bus station, restaurants, cheap shops and colonial cultural buildings. Dont' miss Brid's Isle for dinner. Beware if you're a light sleeper, dogs in the neighborhood bark all night long!!!

We only stayed one night in Belize City on our way from Tulum to Tikal. I have traveled throughout many out-of-the-way places in Mexico, but the trip from the border of Mexico to Belize City was rather depressing. It was more of a dirty kind of poverty - we passed many areas with broken down, rusted cars in the yard,...

Coningsby was home to myself and a group of students along with another professor colleague in June 2007. we were in Belize City to learn about health and human services. Coningsby was a great base. The new manager who was the owner worked in the stock market for more than 20 years in the USA. She has now returned home...

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone at anytime. It is in total disrepair and smells bad.
We only stayed one night and that was too long. The rooms are cramped and the bathroom was awful. When we complained that the light in the bathroom didn't work, they brought us a light bulb! It was a joke.
The staff...
