We had a day room at Pioneer Lodge, as we had a long rate between flights. It is close to the airport, but you do not feel like you are in a city at all. The lodge and rooms are lovely and the food was delicious (especially the chips!). The owner, Paul was really helpful and we felt really welcome,... More

Pioneer Camp is an excellent choice to start from when you go on a self drive trip through Zambia. It is quite close to the airport. The road leading to the property used to be terrible, but recent reports say it is going to be upgraded soon (and maybe even made into tarmac). Upon arrival, welcome is always heartily. One... More

Pioneer camp and staying in one of the chalets within the grounds gives the perfect chance to rest whilst retaining that 'Africa feeling', before the long flight home. Paul and his team provide good service, the chalets are clean, the grounds are safe and its location close enough to the airport(the journey has never taken more than 25 minutes yet)... More

Apparently the government is going to tarmac the incredibly bumpy road shortly. That will be a blessing!! The actual camp is beautifully decorated. Our room was large and again the decoration was in keeping with the camp. As we arrived fiarly late from Mfuwe airstrip, we had toasted sandwiches which I can highly recommend. The young man behind the bar... More

We chose this place to stay as we had an early morning flight out. For this it is very good-20 minutes. Simple but ok menu. free wifi. Clean and good mosquito nets. But completely on its own and very very quiet. Our trip spoilt by the taxi driver not turning up at 5 am though we were able to get... More

Stayed here for 1.5 weeks in November 2012. Ok, yes it is basic BUT, Staff especially Paul the owner and Daniel on the bar are great and they will try to do everything they can to help you out. Food is limited choice BUT again, it is good, lots of it and available at a good price. This compared to... More

Has a decent campsite with hot and clean showers. The campsites only have light facilities and there are no designated braai pits, water taps or power outlets. There is one communal sink and a set of communal ablutions. There is free but choppy wifi at the bar. Power is also available at the bar. The campsite also offers meals but... More

In between our South Luangwa trip and having picked up of our car for the rest of our journey, this place seemed to be a good stop in Lusaka when not wanting to stay in the city center.. We arrived somewhere in the afternoon, no one at reception, after some searching we found some one whom asked us to pick... More

Situated very near to Lusaka - good place to stay as you come from the airport and don´t want to travel further on the arrival day. Chalets and camping area under trees. Sometimes you see zebra crossing the area. Simple chalets, service not very attentive, meals also ok but takes a long time until you get them. Often coming overlanders,... More

We needed somewhere to stay overnight in Lusaka at the end of our safari in South Luwanga and our travel agent recommended Pioneer Camp's Safari Package. And it fitted the bill very well. For $150 per person we were picked up from the airport on time, had an safe if bumpy twenty minute drive to the camp, had a very... More
