The daytime desk clerk could use training in hospitality ( smiling, speaking without harshness) and proper business practices. When asked for a receipt after giving cash payment for the rooms and incidentals, she would not provide a receipt. :( Upon coming home from our trip, i see extra credit card charge from the hotel for my incidentals. It’s small so won’t dispute but it feels shady like she is pocketing the extra money. Also she asks for 300 baht deposit just for an extra card key.— also no receipt given. Nighttime desk clerk was nice and let us get our thai baht the next day since we arrived late from our flight. Location very good for catching songtheau truck transport, Wulai Road night market, nightly food stands across the road, hospital, pharmacy, 7-11, drink stand next to pharmacy. Breakfast was ok. Room 401 was large with 1 queen, table and chairs, armoir, and lots of counter space, outlets, nightstands.

There was literally no one at the hotel after 9.00 pm. No front desk agents, no security guard. The rooms are old and full of ants and bugs but don't expect anyone to help you because there's none. We had to change a hotel in the middle of night. The staff (guy at the front desk) was super rude. No service mind at all. There a lot of options out there. Don't waste your time and money there! Will never go back!

Although the hotel has a good location, Im very disappointed with their maintenance and service. I didnt mind the old fixtures or furnitures (stuck in the 90's) but cleanliness for me is of high importance. When we checked in, the room was not cleaned properly! Also, majority of the staffs speaks little to no english so its quite difficult to communicate. I would have given this a terrible rating had it been for their food. The breakfast buffet was their redemption. I booked this hotel because of reviews that it serve halal food but Im quite surprised that the restaurant only serve breakfast and does not cater for lunch nor dinner so we have to look at other halal eateries nearby the area.

Positive points: excellent location right by Walking Street, Night Market. Good sized room for a lower price city centre hotel. Off-road parking. However, the hotel was generally disappointing: first room stank of stale cigarette smoke thanks to the previous selfish occupant. Nevertheless the Hotel should not have tried let it in that state. Staff were fairly pleasant and helpful. No problem in getting them to change our room. Second room ok, but felt grubby. Bad impression caused by the underside of the toilet seat being unclean and a tiny piece of toilet paper stuck on the wall. Otherwise ok, but an unsettling find. One ridiculous design feature was no washbasin in the toilet/bathroom (which is spaceous). Instead a small pedestal basin is located by the window in the bedroom (see photo) with no surface to put toiletries on. Furthermore the soap dispenser (only soap provided was in the adjoining shower room! Breakfast was disappointing and stone cold. Although the trays could be heated no effort had been made to do so. Hence, fried eggs put out out at 7am were potentially sitting out for 3 hours. Apart from cold chicken sausages there didn't appear to be anything else that could not be halal. Right opposite the hotel are a couple of nice bar/restaurants which I would recommend in preference to the hotel for food. Would I stay again - no i am sorry, I would not. Although relatively inexpensive for a 3* city centre hotel, in addition to the above niggles, it does not provide a decent restaurant (only breakfast served), bar, or communal facilities. Might just as well stay in a budget hotel that offers nothing more than a decent, clean comfortable room at almost half the undiscounted price. Pity because more could be made of this hotel.

Well worth the money. We stayed 3 nights and were originally going to stay at another place but walked past the Romena. It looked much nicer than the cheap one we were planning on staying at so expected it to be much more expensive. However for 4-300baht more than some of the other places we had looked at that day it was well worth it. Positives: +It came with free cooked breakfast which had tasty food although a small menu. And coffee +Nice clean large room with good aircon and the bathroom wasn’t pathetically small like most places +Great location 200n wall from the Chiang Mai South Gate so easy to explain to taxis and drive to on a motorbike if your lost. It’s also 100m down a drive way so very quiet. And opposite a bike shop +organised a taxi to airport (not free) Negatives: -no pool -room had a slight mouldy smell in it probably due to not being used This is a great place, unless your picky and to lazy to walk 10mins to the attractions, this place is right for you.

So the hotel is ok, not really terrible, but i wouldn't go back cause we had 2 giant cockroaches in our room two days in a row. The shower doesn't really have hot water, only warm and the fllow of the water is not comfortable as it's pretty light. Basically the shower and the toilet are connected and there's nothing to seperate between them, not even a curtain. The sink is outside the bathroom. The sheets were not very clean. Breakfast is pretty poor. Location is quite good. However the hotel is still ok for its cheap price, its not horrible:) its ok:)

We are on business trip for 2 days in this area. Good location, big room, fair price, good air conditioner big enough, bigger fridge, table to work and water pressure is great. Quiet but easy to get to nearby attractions.

While my bf and I had really hoped to like this place as we were paying 800 TB per night, this was just not the case. Firstly, the first night we were woken up every hour to people talking loudly and could even hear people sneeze or cough etc. The walls in this place are CRAZY thin. The bed is also extremely hard and very uncomfortable. Once we were fed up with this we called to complain. We talked to a guy on the phone who had told us we could get a partial refund for our convenience and would do something about this. The quality of the maid service was also poor as our maid several times took our towels and left us without any. My boyfriend went down to the lobby and explained that I was in the shower and we were left with no towels. The staff said it would be a 45 minute wait to get a towel. He exclaimed his disappointment in the stay and the staff just kind of stared at him. When he left he walked past the glass wall looking into the lobby and saw them all laughing and mocking him. Extremely disrespectful. The next day we had been approached by the "manager" I presume, who was an older lady. She told us that the noises at night were from all of the Chinese people and she tries to tell them to be quiet but they do not listen. Ok? That is still not fixing our problem. We had told her we wanted to speak with the guy who was on the phone and who was apologetic and wanting to help us to do something about this. She said a partial refund is in no way fair and was not happening. She also said the guy on the phone was wrong and that it's miscommunication. She moved us to the 6th floor( the "nicer" floor) and we stayed there for our last couple nights. While it was more quiet, the bed was equally as hard. Unfortunately our stay was poor at the Romena for the price we paid. Would not recommend unless you are sure to stay on a higher floor, and would enjoy the halal breakfast downstairs.

Being a hotel (not a hostel or a guest house), you have certain expectations like cleanliness, good service, etc.. This hotel has none of that! First things first, the room was full of ANTs!! Actually sworming the place, they got into my luggage and I used to wake up at night because some ants have chosen my face to be the path to their village. Let's count the expectations: - Clean Pillow - None, the pillow was without a cover and it is yellowish! - Clean Quilt - It was stained and the other one in the cabinet smelled like an old man! - Soap and Shampoo - None! - Sanitary kit (head cap, waste bag, etc..) - None - Tea and Coffee - None - Safe - There is a 10 cm x 10 cm safe that can fit those ants who lived there with a KEY! An actual key that you have to carry around town! Oh, did I mention that the room also has a key! A metal key! not a card or anything, apparently the technology didn't hit that part of town yet. - Room service (food or drinks) - None! - Sound proofing - None! I mean literaly, NONE! If the guy in the room at the end of the whole sneezed, I could hear it in my room at the other end like he was standing beside me. (Imagine my sleepless nights) The bad service started when I arrived to the hotel, as I arrived half an hour early, and they made me stay in the reception area waiting for half an hour, because the room was not ready yet (I'm not sure what they were doing, could be feeding the ants.) The breakfast consisted of cold fried eggs (most probably new ones with yesterday's leftovers) and some god knows what kind of colored and hellishly smelling rice and of course, "Halal" chicken cold sausage. Bottom line is that, I wouldn't stay there if I was paid to! Not recommended at all! And it's too expensive considering the bad service that it's offering!

Room was very clean, spacious and the hotel was very modern. My stay included breakfast which was very nice. The Night market was a short 10 minute ride by tuk tuk and Saturday walking street was right around the corner! There was free wifi throughout the whole hotel, lobby and restaurant. My only complaint is that the doors to the rooms have a huge gap underneath of them, and the loud marble hallways echo terribly. With so many people coming and going, the noise was deafening. There was quick and easy access to a good coffee shop, 7-11 and a grocery store.
