Located in the Chang puak area, which is ok, fairly quiet but you will still hear some traffic noise, it takes 10-15 minutes to walk to the main shopping mall Kad suan Kaew. The guesthouse is basic and clean and the rooms are good size with plenty of natural light but management dont really care for there visitors, i was... More

If you're looking for a place to stay in Chiang Mai that is well outside of the tourist ghetto, look no further. Wa Lai House is a great family owned business in a quiet neighborhood just north of the moat. It only takes a few minutes to walk into the center of town and even faster if you use a... More

I've stayed there for months, always come back here, they are probably drawbacks as in the negative comments and it is not as lively than a few years ago mainly because they shut reception at 8 now! But the owner Aun and the receptionist Ann are very lively and welcoming, mainly long term thai massage student stay there and other... More

We have stayed at Walai House in March 2010 and we loved it! 6 minutes from the airport by motorbike/car. All rooms, the yard, the hall and kitchen are very simple but nice, it feels like home. there is a parking for motorbike in front of the hotel. For me the price was a bit overpriced. Nice girls on the... More

This guesthouse is NOT on Singharat Road! It is on Santisuk Road, Soi 3, northwest of the old city in Chiang Mai. Travelocity: do not delete this review until the address and map have been corrected! Thank you.

Pros: Friendly staff, good sized room, affordable, TV, aircon, nice shower, they let you use the refrigerator in the lounge. Near a great yoga studio! Cons: Smelly bathroom, room did not have particularly nice decor, no refrigerator in the room, location is not central at all. Far from the old city. We ended up leaving to go to a place... More

Lovely, quiet family run guesthouse in Chiang Mai. A little bit off the center but still in near distance to reach it. Very friendly atmosphere, helpful staff and owner Aun. I have been staying there about 10 times over the five year and won´t change it for any other place - even having a look around to see other guesthouses,... More

Smelly drains, sulky staff, lots of Americans. Beware, the bathrooms are tiny, featuring just a shower and loo. The wash basin is actually located outside the room through a door onto a little balcony. For some reason, we just didn't find the place that conducive to chatting & chilling with other guests either. Perhaps it's just us. Lovely website though.... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at the boutique guesthouse in July. It was by far the nicest place we stayed in Thailand. Having reserved a room online via their website, we were unsure of the quality of the place prior to our arrival. Upon seeing the room we were waiting for the hidden traps and charges to pop up, but... More
