We did a 3 weeks Tonga trip staying on 3 islands and checking out our lodgings before from the other side of the world - Austria in Europe. Booking Sails lodge was easy - we just wrote an email, no securities were asked, no credit card data needed, and when we finally stood in front of it, everything was in... More

The staff were friendly, breakfast was lovely. The room seemed to be very hot, and the fan would only go quite slow. The sheets were always changed and clean, with new linen put in everyday we were there. The shared bathroom (only between us and another room) was kept clean and in good condition. The location was ok, but we... More

We have been in Sails Lodge for 1 night. . We have booked a double room ocean view with bathroom (ensuite) for 4 nights, 3 months before and Ese, the owner, has confermed the availability immediatly. When we arrived there Ese gave us a room on the ground floor, no ocean view , with a bathroom outside. The room was... More

Dear madam, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. All our Oceanview rooms have views of the Ocean, we have 2 floors, the ground and the 1st floor. The ground floor may have less view but still an Oceanview room. It's usually impossible to see the Ocean when you arrive late at night. As with payments, we... More

We stayed here July 2009 for 3 nights. We are a family of 5 so we got 2 rooms on the ground floor. One of the rooms were bigger and slightly nicer, The other room facing the back garden was not very appealing. None of the rooms had a bathroom. We got our own bathroom down the corridor. It all... Thank you for taking the time after 1 year to post your comment. We would like to remind all our guests that their sheets were changed every day except for Sunday. Tonga has a strict Sunday Law and we take it seriously, due to our faith. We will give our guests extra toilet paper, soaps and fresh towels if required.... More

Travelling with a young child you are concerned about where to stay because of health reasons & above all comfort. A friend of the family suggested Sails Lodge from previous experience. So, I trusted their recommendation & made a booking with Sails Lodge, located on Vuna Rd. Tonga. Was, pleased to see that Mr & Mrs Kava was very helpful,... More

we have been to tonga three times. Two of the times we stayed at the international dateline hotel. I don't recommend hotel is real run down and to much money for the rooms.Sails lodge is right down the street ,same side of the road and very comfortable at half the price. It doesn't have the same ocean view, but it has... More

After staying at really run down "resorts" we were pleasantly surprised to have found this hotel. We liked the location and especially appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms. The furniture was tasteful, classy and brand new, which we didn't expect to find in Tonga. Wished we would have stayed here instead of other places which were run down.... More

We stayed at Sails Lodge for one night and were very disappointed with the lodge. What could be a charming old lodge is run down, shabby and very poorly run. On arrival around 8pm we finally found some staff members and were told that the owners were out at a show. We eventually managed to sort out what rooms we... More

Chose the Sails Lodge on the basis of reviews and the apparent paucity of options available. It is possible that there are very few choices available at all. You could stay on an island resort but heaven knows what you would do after 6 when it gets dark. The Royal Tongan and International Dateline seem to have gone down the... More

Sam and Ese made our stay in Tonga very enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble. Sail Lodge is very well located, close to town and the markets and just across the road from the ferry to Fafa and Pangaimotu. Sails is clean and tidy, sheets changed every day. Hot showers and clean bathrooms. Definitely one of the better places to... More
