I had cock roaches in my bed, around the sink, on the floor etc. The bed is like sleeping on hardwood. 2 roaches woke me up by crawling up my arm at 4AM. lovely....eh. I was hoping they were mozzies but no such luck. I was unpleasant to say the least. the mozzies bite me all night long. My feet... more

I've been to Egypt twice, and visited Cairo four diferent times. But sadly, only on my last visit I discovered this amazing hotel. Run by a Egyptian-french lady, Mme Adelle, this is by far the best hotel in the city - if you like good atmosphere. Set in a old building in the heart of Cairo's Downtown, it's just a... more

The location is excellent, in the middle of Downtown Cairo, a short walk from the Egyptian Museum. The hotel is steeped in character. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming and the price is extremely competitive. more

The best thing about the roma rooms was the size. I stayed with three of my friends in this hotel and we had heaps of space to move around. Nice big beds... not the best in comfort, but they do the trick. Woodern floors and big windows! One problem we had was mosquitos... they same to be everywhere, the hotel... more

We stayed here because I had read that this was reminiscent of old Cairo. The staff was very nice. The food was not good. The beds were rocks. The mosquitoes attacked me all night long and buzzed in my ear. I sprayed my bed and the help showed me the plug-in mosquito deterent. It didnt work. The shared toilets had... more

Ok, in cairo you cant expect quite rooms, but the noise here was pretty loud, music from other flats, street noise and we had the room behind the reception desk where we could here everything. Also no bathroom in the room, hot water in the shared bathroom. Breakfast pretty much inedible, some sweet bread and jam. Lots of mosquitos. Very... more

Well, lets just say for $16 a night, what can you expect. The charm of this hotel is exquisite. The breakfast room is adorable. The biggest letdown of this place was the bathroom in the room. The shower is very tired and very old. The beds were the hardest beds I have ever slept on and the pillows were just... more

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our trip to Egypt when our budget was getting a bit thin. My husband read about the hotel in the LP guide and thought it would be a great experience filled with "old-Cairo charm." He imagined this budget traveler spot to be atmospheric and romantic in a rustic sense. It... more

For those of you who want to feel comfortable in the midst of chaos, this is the place to stay. I stayed here twice over the course of my 21 day visit to Egypt and it was warm and welcoming. In fact, when I arrived back at the Roma for the last week, the staff said, "Welcome home!". The staff... more

Don't know what it was but I was bitten over 50 times in one night at this hotel. I would figure if the bites are this bad they need to get a little more pest control. In addition, it appears that the bites were more like bed bugs although it's hard to tell. Other than that the service was adequate... more
