Nice gardens, comfortable rooms and decent home-style cooking, friendly service for an excellent price. If you want a pool, restaurant, bar, 24 front desk, etc. this may not be your place, but it certainly worked for me. Not all rooms have attached and non-shared bath, so call and make sure in advance.

My room was clean but spartan. The mosquito nets were heavy duty and romantic in their way. What made me suffer was the lukewarm to cold shower which even in November made me shudder. I loved the breakfast which was cooked to order and had fresh fruit and things like mango pancakes. The coffee was mediocre - a disappointment in... More

This was my third visit to Nairobi and I thought of trying out the Gigiri Homestead which is on the UN's approved list of local guesthouses.I was not disappointed. The ease of communication when booking and the friendly welcome was reassuring after a long journey from New York. The room was clean and comfortably furnished with good wifi connection.Any requests were dealt... For those who come for a meeting at the UN campus, this hotel is located perfectly between the UN campus and a shopping mall (called Village Mall) both within walking distances. I came to know that there are two houses (50 and 54). I stayed in a room on the first floor. Although my room had a bathroom separate, the... More

I stayed in Gigiri Homestead twice recently, and had an excellent experience both times. From the large shower heads that give you a proper soaking to the hand made beds, everything has been carefully thought through. The staff are welcoming, courteous and accept feedback eagerly. The walk to village market (10 mins) and the UN (15 mins) is pleasant and... More

This review is long overdue and one of the reasons why I have become a member at TripAdvisor. We stayed at the Gigiri homestead in October 2010 and as a former Nairobi resident, I was pleasantly surprised by this place. If you really want to experience how wellheeled Nairobi residents live, than you could do no better than to stay... More

They also overcharged us and wouldn't refund money. 5 people in our group. We all had to ask for clean towels every other day. Twice had to ask them to remove the worms in the room. It was a secure place.

Very nice residence in a very quite area Staff are service oriented but the rule led by the manager does not leave much room for extra service. Nothing is included in the price, no even a bottle of water (but the day of arrival) Cash payment in USD is accepted only High price for a relatively poor performance.

I use this as my base when working in Nairobi. It's in the north of the city so handy for the UN HQ, embassies, etc, but not if you want the national parks as most of the close ones are south, east or west and traffic congestion can be very bad here. There are only a few rooms, most have... More
