My wife and I spent 9 nights at this B&B, in both suite A, and room C. This is a wonderful location in the middle of a traditional Hutong. The B&B is very clean and well managed. It is unbelievably quiet at night. Angela and Julia are great hosts and the traditional chinese breakfast each morning was a delight. One... More

Stayed in this delightful B and B for 3 nights in April. Everything was great - even though I managed to mess up our booking by telling Angela the wrong dates required for our stay. She kindly managed t0 find another room for us even though she was fully booked. Angela booked our train tickets for us to Xi'an and... More

Like other reviews for this place, let me start by saying this is a very peculiar B&B since it is in the very heart of a hutong and it's a little bit different from the usual commercial hotels. Having said that, I can only say the best from our stay there: excellent location in the heart of Beijing, good bedrooms,... More

This is not your usual hotel. Situated in a hutong, it will take a little courage for those who are used to stay in commercial / branded hotels. If you are looking to experience local Chinese culture, Maoer is an ideal location. Nanlouguxiang Hutong is very near and has more interesting restaurants/bars/shops than the other commercialized areas like Wangfujing/Qianmen/Sanlitun. In... More

I've stayed at Maoer Courtyard BB already in 2007 and now again. I loved it then, and I loved it again! It even has improved from last time if that was ever possible. For instance THERE'S A NEW SUBWAY-LINE NOW (line 6) IN 7 MINUTES WALKING distance only (exit: Nanluoguxiang) which connects you to all spots you'd like to see... More

We stayed at Mao'er Hutong B&B for five nights during our 20 days trip through China. We arrived at night and had some difficulty reaching the place, as the taxis would not enter the narrow hutongs and many refused to take us there from the airport for that reason. At the end, we managed to get a taxi, got off... More

We stayed with Angela and Julia for three days in March 2012. We arrived very early (about 7am) and were treated to a complimentary breakfast. It was very different to our breakfasts in the UK, but my wife (a veggie) was in heaven - A strange, but delicious, pancake/omlette concoction, rice and some other very tasty dishes. We had a... Fabulous stay at Maoer Hutong in Beijing. Angela and Julia were lovely hosts. Our flight was delayed due to bad weather and poor Angela patiently waited for four hours to collect us at Beijing airport! The hotel is clean, comfortable and traditionally decorated in a charming little hutong which feels very 'Chinese'. Possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever... More

Angela is a lovely and gracious host. The place is just stunning, spotless and beautifully decorated. Location is outstanding. Bed was very comfortable with beautiful linens. All the extra touches, including bilingual taxi card to show drivers, extra toothbrushes and toiletries were much appreciated. A +++ We stayed at three places on our recent trip to Beijing and this was... More
