I’m not a hiker. Or a birder. I am an avoider of tours and not exactly in peak physical condition. I’m into insect avoidance. My travel partner is an overly particular, and often unwilling, participant in my travel schemes. How is it possible that these eco-lodges would provide the perfect vacation for us? The magic that makes the lodge circuit... More

I spent two weeks in Ecuador visiting all four of the San-Jorge reserves and staying at the three Eco-lodges - Quito, Tandayapa and Milpe. I am not a fanaticall birder but I saw 300 species of bird and had a wonderful holiday. The staff were always friendly and helpful, the four course meals beautifully presented and tasty and the accomodation... More

We spent two glorious weeks in Ecuador doing the circuit from San Jorge Eco-Lodge in Quito, Tandayapa Hummingbird Sanctuary, Milpe Eco Lodge, and Sani Lodge in the Amazon. Fabulous & healthy four-course meals in Quito were served by the charming Vicente and Jaibir, and in Tandayapa, Dona Pilar cooked like a domestic goddess. There was a lovely dining room in... More

My husband and I are serious (but not fanatic) birders on our eighth trip to Ecuador. We spent a week birding in eastern Ecuador before spending the last two nights at San Jorge in Quito. The hacienda is a charming old home laden with exquisitely carved wooden furniture and doors, lovely wrought iron rails and window guards, and rooms conveying... More

We been there for 3 days, The service is horroble, accomodation is below 2 star and the owner is trying to sell you the moon at night and sun at daytime, never ever think about this place if you want real vacation in Ecuador More

We had a very wonderful stay at San Jorge eco lodge and Tandayapa Hummingbird Sanctuary. The staff (driver Mel, Stalin, our cooks) were helpful and friendly, and the food was excellent. Our bird guides, Stalin and Jorge (Dr Cruz), are very good at spotting birds and identifying them. Jorge tried very hard to get us the rare birds as well,... More

Everything about the four days we spent at the San Jorge Eco-Lodges was enjoyable. The rooms were sparkling clean, the four course lunches and dinners superb and full of local dishes. The hiking was glorious, especially the waterfall circuit at Milpe. We've been all over the world, and this hike is truly spectacular. Now for the birding: we are rank... More

First off, I would like to say that we are NOT bird watching folks. That said, my review is based upon our experience at the lodge as guests. We stayed at San Jorge both before and after our Amazon trip this October/November 2011. We cannot say enough great things about San Jorge! Our flight arrived in from the States quite... More

We stayed at San Jorge Eco-Lodge the night before the morning of our flight home from Quito. It is relatively close to the airport (though their promotional information states "20 minutes", it is closer to 25, and that was in very light traffic at 4:00 a.m. Sunday). Still a fairly nice place to stay. The dining area is a bit... More

First, let me say that our bird guide, Miguel Angel, was excellent. We signed up for a 5-day, 4-night bird watching trip and saw nearly 150 species due to Miguel’s hard work. What I take issue with, however, are the broken promises of San Jorge’s trip package. Let me address each point below, direct wording from the information sent to... More

San Jorge Lodge sincerely apologies for the issues the client addressed. There were a few issues that were beyond our control. First, the transfer representative was late at the airport due to the fact he did get delayed in traffic. Next, the English guide scheduled to work had to leave suddenly due family illness, which was out of our hands.... More
