I booked on-line the night before arriving, paid a very reasonable rate (caution - there is a 22% hotel tax) and was very pleasantly surprised to receive a beautiful suite. This is a good hotel with very good sushi bar and exceptionally good room service! The supermarket is about 10 min walk and the traditional Indian market which is good to buy souvenirs is also around the corner. More

They are presently renovating the hotel and we were assigned a new junior suite (room #210) on our first night. For our second stay later in the week, they assigned us a non-renovated one-bedroom suite (Penthouse #1003) with an amazing terrace/view of the city.. The hotel will be very nice when finished. We stayed at the Mercure Grand Hotel in Quito for 3 nights in May 2011 near the end of an OAT tour to Machu Picchu and the Galapagos.
