It takes about 2 hrs to get to Bellavista from Quito along a good road for the most part, which crosses the Western Andes. The lodge is set in the cloud forest, and it does rain a lot - which can make photography difficult, and also somewhat diminishes the prospects of seeing a lot of birds. However, the hummingbird feeders... more

We did not stay at the hotel, although it did appear clean and comfortable, but rather availed ourselves of the excellent day excursion from Quito. It is not far, the rates are reasonable, and despite the fact that most birds are, in fact out early in the morning (a good reason to stay overnight) we saw a large variety of... more

Our group of four spent 3 days and nights at the Bellavista (Reserve and B&B). All arrangements were efficiently made with a few emails to their office in Quito. Their friendly driver picked us up on time from our hotel in Quito and drove us north, with an hour’s stop at the Mitad del Mundo monument on the equator, and... more

We had 2 wonderful days. Guided by owner Richard Parson on one day and David Pinto the next. I am a guide, and these were both excellent, each in their own way. Clearly enthusiastic and passionate about the reserve. The food was excellent. In fact the trout was so good that I had it 3 times, prepared differently. more

After reading reviews about the Cloud Forest and BellaVista we were very excited about our stay for 2 nights/3 days in late October. What a disappointment this portion of our trip was. We felt completely isolated at BellaVista. The guides ate separately from us, and our first and only night there, it was just us plus one other gal. No... more

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Bellavista as our last excursion in Ecuador, after Galapagos, the Rain Forest and the High Andes. This was definitely the way to do it. We were on the go all the rest of the vacation and here at the Cloud Forest we had a nice relaxing change of pace before returning home.... more

We stayed for four nights at Bellavista Lodge and two nights in their B&B in Quito in July 2009. The B&B is a handy place to start your visit after a late flight. Someone from Bellavista picked us up from the airport and later drove us to the lodge, a huge convenience. The lodge is about 2 hours from Quito,... more

For a relatively "budget" hotel, this has to be one of the best experiences of my travels to date. Bellavista is perched high in the cloud forest, seemingly in the middle of nowehere. The air is clean and fresh, the walks are fabulous, the accommodation is far better than their website would suggest and we ate well during our 2... more

We loved Bellavista, from the moment we were collected from Quito early in the morning it was a wonderful experience. When we arrived and were shown our room we just felt like we had gone to the best home in the world. The rooms are lovely, they have a nice feel and a great smell about them - it reminded... more

We stayed on the second floor in an off-site newer building. We had to have the electrician come to turn on the lights. The water was only hot for a short time during our stay, so we were disappointed in that. The room was nice, however the floor was covered in uneven bamboo flooring which made it easy to stub... more
