Chanced on this via airport problems (closed due to fog) and it was good decision to stay. My stay was lengthened due to above problem and Edith was very helpful in confirming and reconfirming my onwards plans. They provided me with a nice spacious room (was quiet when i stayed there) with view over courtyard (solar), and the owner (a... More

In February we have traveled with our two kids (6 and 7) to Peru. We stayed for 10 days in hostal casona solar. The hotel is very centrally located and after the main gates, you will find an oase of tranquility in the busy city center of Arequipa. Very safe hostal for our children, as the gates are locked. The... More

We stayed here for six days while touring peru on a fairly modest budget. After a tiring nigght-time coach trip, we were able to book in early and made to feel very welcome. Our room was superb in a vast, brick-lined vaulted part of the building, and the hotel was quiet, depsite being in heart of Arequipa. The owners, Gertso... More

We stayed at the hostel for three nights in November, 2008. The street facade is not special, but when one enters the tall doors and courtyard, it is as if you are in a special world. The white sillar construction material is unique, as is the garden in the back, room with antique-type furniture, and history of the place. The... More

We have received a very warm welcome at Casona Solar. The place is an historical house of Arequipa wonderfully renovated and decorated. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. The owner, Edith, is always ready to help and provide info. Don't hesitate if you want to stay there. More

My sister, boyfriend and I stayed at Casona Solar for 3 nights in August. We arrived early on the first day and we were able to have an inexpensive breakfast there, though it was not included for this day. The sillar (ashler stone) architecture was a good introduction to this material used all over Arequipa. The sunny courtyard at the... More

We recently (August 2008) stayed at the Casona Solar for three nights when visiting Arequipa. Unlike several of the other reviewers, our stay was less than optimal. We booked our room by Internet, communicating (Spanish only) with the delightful owners. We were asked our arrival details at the Arequipa bus station which we provided; a transfer from the station to... More

Seven of us stayed here for one night before and one night after our trip to Colca Canyon. Arriving after a very long bus night-long ride from Cusco, we were met by Edith who organized two cabs and we made our way through Arequipa traffic. Casona Solar looks deceptive from the outside...it's a relatively simple, but 18th century building...but you... More
