After a long expedition down the amazon we stayed 3 days in casa moray. Beautiful historical hotel with a nice owner who makes expeditions and research down the amazon. You life like 100 years ago, in the past with beautiful rooms and ancient furniture. That's what a mousquetaire like me like. It's also a quiet and lovely place. We must... More

Cap'n Tom Experienced Amazon travellers gave me the tip on La Casa Morey after I had booked another hotel. I changed over and was certainly glad I did. A perfect hotel, with a thoughtful staff, for my Amazon adventure. The airline was two hours late and I thought for sure I was left at the mercy of the motocabs.... but... More

This hotel is one of the few spectacular waterfront rubber boom buildings in Iquitos that is not occupied by government or military offices. The upstairs rooms are huge, with high ceilings and large bathrooms with plentiful hot water. Ask for a riverside room (spectacular view), but because of the popularity of this hotel, you may end up on the road... More

Casa Morey is the 4th hotel I have stayed at in Iquitos, and my favorite. Why? It is a renovated 1913 mansion that belonged to a rubber baron and exudes character. The exterior is covered with tiles; it is located right on the Amazon with great views from second floor rooms; it is decorated in the style of the period.... More

My partner and I are living in the jungle out of Iquitos for one year and this hotel has been our oasis! The staff, Ramon and Lizet, cannot do enough to make our stay perfect, and with our inability to speak Spanish, the assistance of Ramon, in particular, has been priceless in organising tours, getting what we need at restaurants,... Comfortable, amazing historical building. Great atmosphere and location over looking the river basin however very noisy if your room happens to be street side as ours was. Staff are enthusiastic and friendly although a little overwhelmed at times. A gem in a not too bright town. Worth a couple of days stay.

We spent six nights at the Casa Morey. It is beautifully located just off the river. The hotel has been nicely rehabbed. While I have read some reviewer complaints because the rehab isn't as polished as they would have liked or expected, I think they miss the point: Iquitos is not a polished town. It is rustic and frontier; the... More

Iquitos itself has little to offer other than crazy roads (you have to experience the motocar!), the manatee reserve and to serve as the starting point for Amazon river tours (I highly recommend you go with Amazon Explorer!). But whatever the reason, stay at Casa Morey. The location is central (half a block from Amazong Explorer) and close to restaurants... More

We stayed here for two nights. Pros: Beautiful building Great location Enormous rooms Friendly Staff Pool Complimentary airport pick-up Cons: AC did not work so well (probably because the rooms are seriously gigantic) A certain something we can't put to words Tour huckster sent to pick us up at the airport Sparse furnishings add to the empty feel of the...
