Our family aren't 5-star resort types. We look for places where there's either no-one else... or hardly anyone else. Takalana is tiny (2 bures right now, another 2 open soon), family oriented, lovely people, lovely food. For my kids (10, 12, 17) the highlight was the boat-trip out to the dolphins - for me it was a 40 minute walk... More

Getting to Takalana was an adventure in itself. Takalana is in a remote part of Viti Levu and the last 15 or so kilometers is on a gravel road (I am glad we hired a 4x4) It took us 2hrs and 10mins from the Novotel Suva but we did not rush and stopped along the way. Nestled into the side... More

The two days we had at Takalana Bay Retreat were supposed to have been the highlight of our two weeks in the Pacific. This was the one place I had insisted we go. What could be better than to see the dolphins and stay at a relaxed place with such raving reviews. We arrived early evening on the last day... More

My family and I did a day trip to Takalana to do the dolphin tour and we were blown away by it. It was better than we expected. We arrived around 10:30 in the morning and greeted warmly by the staff with morning tea and pastries. Then we boarded a boat which took us about 4 miles out to the... More

We loved out stay at takalana bay. Sophie and Fraser were so wonderful, nothing was 2 much trouble. The weather was not the greatest, so we had heaps of time to relax and do not much. The food was amazing, considering how far we were away from Suva the meals were great, especially the fresh fish! The dolphin trip is a... More

We stayed 6 nights here and were totally relaxed when we left. The family were fantastic, friendly, have great voices, informative and great cooks. We enjoyed the trip(s) to the reef and the dolphins as well as the snorkelling and the waterfall was worth the walk but it was really just the atmosphere and we live in the country so it... More

We arrived by 5.15pm bus from Suva to Korovou (approx 1.25hrs), followed by a one hour ($FJ50) 4WD taxi ride to Takalana Resort & were probably a bit shell-shocked on arrival without the city lights of Suva, with "lights out" (generator shut down) at 10pm & hundreds of flying critters in our welcoming, well lit, airy (open-windowed) cabin. But it... More

Takalana is in an incredible location with panoramic views of land and sea. It's secluded and very peaceful but with large grounds. It's only a small capacity accommodation wise, which keeps it quiet and relaxing. Bures (rooms) are medium or large, pleasant and have en suite bathroom and kitchen. Fresh meals were very tasty and plentiful, served by extremely friendly... More

we went from Nadi.It was easy to fing the place. Just go straight, no turn from Korovou town.We recommend to go by 4WD.(local bus is another option) Place is simple but clean and garden was beautiful. Boat trip to Moon reef was wonderful.I realized that moon reef is much closer to mainland than expected. So close to the mainland but... More

What a relaxing place to stay! The bures are cosy and nice, with a beautiful ocean view. Mosquito nets are provided for over all the beds, as there is no air conditioning there. We were a group of four people and stayed in a bure with one double bed, one bunk bed and one single bed. It was self contained... More
