Having stayed at the Ukraina before it was Best Easternised some minor improvements were noted. Perhaps the best thing about the place is its location in a prominent position right on the edge of Independence Square (something Best Eastern didn't have to improve!) Tried to find a reasonable price well-located hotel in Kiev. The Ukraina is well located. Rooms are more likely clean, but you feel like back in the 70s: completely outdated and soviet-styled. Breakfast OK. Free porn on TV - never seen this feature in any "real" hotel. If I could, would pay USD 400 for Hyatt or Intercontinental. more

I was surprised how great located this hotel is. Bang on - right on the heart of the city. You can walk everywhere from there, all the things to see can be reached within a 10-15 min walk which I thought was absolutely FANTASTIC. You can feel the history there too as you can view the main Independance Square everyday... more

Stayed at Ukraina Hotel for one night in November, while on business in the Kiev-area. Unfortunately a very Soviet-ish, no thrill experience. Got a huge, weird-smelling 3-room suite on the 9th floor with a very impressive panoramic view of the Independence Square. After spending a week in Russia we had similar expectations for Kiev, but Ukraina was pretty good. We got a renovated room - spacious and although it definitely wasn't our taste, it was a good hotel room. The staff were very helpful, and spoke English - which we didn't expect at all.
