We stayed in the Tower rooms (had 4 rooms) between Christmas and New Years....had a great time..never left the resort. The kids loved the pool, my sister-in-law got the spa treatment... she loved it. Grounds beautiful but rooms are extremely outdated. Wiped my room down with my own clorox wipes. The biggest disappointment was the food in the sports bar. I have stayed twice at this hotel-first in a "condo" and then in the tower both while traveling with my husband for his work. I would by far recommend the rooms in the tower. First, the good: The resort and grounds were beautiful. We went around Christmas time and the place was very festive. There were nice restaurants and shops on the grounds as well. Depending on which part of the Resort you stay, the aesthetics could be dated. But the service was great, and the amenities were great as well. Try the restaurant on the 16th floor. Great food and view. More

I've been staying at the Grand Traverse three or four times a year on business for the past five years. Unfortunately there has been a noticeable and ongoing decline in quality and service - and it's starting to show. This could and should be a 4+ star resort.
