stayed there just a night; arrived very tired on a very hot afternoon after sightseeing. unfortunately the travel agent who made our booking had screwed up and we were goven an upstairs room, which with the state of the staircase (more like a ladder than stairs), my mum could not manage. the proprietor (young guy) was not too helpful at... We arrived in Mandalay by plane during mid morning before leaving early to take the slow boat to Bagan. Peacock Lodge is a bit out of the way, which actually is great as you are away from all the noise and hussel in Mandalay. We took two of their bikes to discover Mandalay for half a day which was like... More

Arrived late from Yangon. Very welcoming staff, I stayed in the bungalow, very comfortable, the shower was good. Had a late dinner at the lodge in the garden, especially put on for late arrivals. The next day the management organised a car and driver for a day of discovering Sagaing, Inwa , Amarapura and finally, U Bein's bridge. Back in... More

The staff and rooms were excellent. The food was also great! Nearby is a rare statue of Buddha in his pre-enlitenment fasting stage (he's super boney!). The only downside is that the hotel is really far away from everything.

We loved the family, the service and the breakfast (ask for the Mohinga)! We disliked the mattresses (worst ever) and the low pressure shower (didnt even think of using soap, since it was only dripping). Dont use their bikes (no brakes, nearly fall apart). You have to walk a bit into town or take a moto, but thats ok since... More

I stayed two pleasant nights at the Peacock Lodge in late March of this year. Aside from a little sightseeing in Mandalay, my goal was to take pictures at U Bein bridge. For this, they got me a guide the next morning at 6:00 so that I could catch the sunrise. They also packed a small breakfast for me to... More

I was traveling alone and was looking forward to the advertised "family atmosphere", but was very disappointed. They did find an excellent guide for me, but the staff was rarely around. The girls were happy to bring breakfast, but the scrambled eggs were filled with oil. I had an early departure and arranged for transport to the airport the night... More

I was really looking forward to staying here, after reading the good reviews. I thought it might be the closest we would get to staying with a family. We arrived mid afternoon, after a long, hot journey from Hsipaw, one of us suffering with a bad stomach. The staff were very kind-supplying us with tea and sending out for yoghurt at... More

We stayed in Peacock Lodge for 2 nights and were very satisfied. The service was very good, and people running the hotel are extremely helpful, sharing useful peaces of advise. If the air in Mandaly were less polluted (the smog in the city is unbearable 24 hours per day) we would have loved to stay longer and the main reason... More

New Deluxe rms are great, out of town location, NO tourist info help, make sure you bring your own guide book, get taxis from outside if can, kitchen staff were friendly, the place had no atmosphere at all, you felt like they wanted you to stay in your room so not to bother them. Maybe if they photcopyed some maps... More
