Stayed 3 nights at this hostel. 5 minutes walk from pub street in quieter neighborhood. Beautiful pool to escape blistering heat. Mark the owner very friendly and helpful, interested in experiences in the area. Good powerful a/c in private rooms. Wifi a little weak at times in room, but definitely useable! Thank you for a nice stay.

The hostel is in a great location only minutes from the old market, pub street etc. and is in a quieter area which is nice if you don't want to party all the time. The pool was refreshing after the temple tour, especially as on this particular day there was no power or water so it was a HUGE blessing.... More

- very, very friendly and considerate staff - great location (bike rentals, pub street etc close by) - nice swimming pool - great British food - double room was big and clean. Though aircon is defo recommended in March/April (even though I've lived in HK for 3 years now)

The hostel had a great feel, with the pool, bar and eating area all in one area. The food was ok (burgers slightly dodgy), owners were friendly and there were plenty of activities organised. Easy place to meet new people. Happy hour 5-8 was a great shout, and rooms were clean and larger than some many hotels we stayed in.... More

The location is great, so is the swimming pool and bar in the garden. During our stay they had an awesome garden/pool party with DJs. On the downside - our A/C was leaking (and I don't just mean a few drops of water), the checkout took forever (somehow the staff were unable to come up with the final bill) and... More

Water shortages are out of our control, there is simply no water in the town during peak times, in the dry season, between 4-6pm, as I explained to you when you were here, and as explained, it's due to the number of tourists visiting Siem Reap being far in excess of the amount of water available. The government should introduce... More

Liked - swimming pool, clean room, facilities even though the food and drink is over priced for what it is. It is a young persons hostel, the pool was surrounded by hormone charged youngsters and it got a bit much at times. The female receptionist was lovely. I can appreciate what the owner is trying to do with the place... More

This is probably the best place to stay in Siem Reap for this price. They have regular rooms too, can't comment there, I stayed in the dorm. Clean room, towel provided, clean bathrooms down the hall, good food, nice new swimming pool. Staff are not as friendly as they could be sometimes, and will overcharge you to book onward transport.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Clean rooms, secure property, reliable and trustworthy service - that is our guarantee. Downtown Siem Reap Hostel is a hostel with high standards, but with backpacker and flashpacker prices. British owned and managed, and established in February 2011, Downtown Siem Reap Hostel has become one of the most popular hostels in Siem Reap, and now with a newly built swimming pool, bamboo gardens, and extra rooms, we are able to accommodate and serve 50 guests per night. Our accommodation includes cheaper fan dorms, AC dorms, twin and double rooms, 4 person rooms and deluxe family rooms (Feb 2013). Our kitchen is open from 6.30 am- with a cheap backpacker menu with all eats under $2.50, to Thai food and Western food- something for all budgets. Our breakfasts have always been a big hit, with set-breakfasts including tea/coffee and juice from $2.50. Our popular bar is open until 2 am, and often later - of course staffed by Western staff. We offer free pick-up from the airport and bus stations in Siem Reap, so please, always inform us of your travel details when booking- we cannot guarantee a booking unless we are responsible for picking you up. We are open 24 hours a day - we never close! Our success is due only to the shear dedication of the Khmer staff employed here. They speak excellent English, serve with a smile, and are here to make your stay as comfortable as possible. ... more   less
