This was our first stop in Bali and i'm so glad we stayed here first. What an amazing hotel and grounds. The decor is old and majestic, very 'Indiana Jones' and the grounds are large and sprawling. Myriads of pathways and steps wind their way up and down the side of a hill, perched next to the river. Our room... More

We spent 7 nights here. The staff were very friendly and helpful, wonderful people. We stayed at Beji 1 and found our villa required a renovation. The air conditioning was excellent. Bathroom was very "used" with very low water pressure (difficult for women to rinse hair). Bed was excellent. Very scenic spot looking down towards the river. Beautiful gardens. Very... More

You know a place is special when we name it one of our all-time favorite places to stay... even after we were robbed a complete night’s rest thanks to a couple of rodents who made love, and an awful lotta noise, inside the rattan headboard just above our bed! Yes, from the moment we set eyes on it, we fell... More

Have stayed here twice now 2004 & 2009, just love the location, the peace and quiet, the rooms are large with a large balcony, they could do with a bit of an update but still love as it is. The staff are very warm and caring, our son 10yr at the time became quite ill and they were very concerned... More

This was our third stay at the Thampuhan - and I am sure that we will stay again when next we are in Ubud. Not the best hotel in town and she is showing her age a bit when compared to other uber resorts in Bali but it has a charm all of its own. After realising that there was... More

We made the terrible mistake of booking a spa treatment on our last day in Ubud. The grotto area is very atmospheric and the treatment rooms by the river looked pretty, so it seemed like a good plan for pampering. It was awful. The massage was mediocre, if I am being polite. The massage bed was wobbly with the bit... More

I stayed 1 night Christmas eve. I arrived too late for dinner so my review is based on my night's sleep and breakfast. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. My review is based on the following: 1) Very reasonable rate 2) VERY friendly staff (it was a loooong ride from the airport and the welcome took away any stress that I... More

I booked a night here for my last night in Ubud in December as I wanted to experience the hotel's history (it's the first of it's kind in Ubud and has exquisite gardens that are almost 100 years old). When I got to the hotel the very friendly and apologetic Manager explained that the room I had booked was being... More

Amazing amazing place ! Awesome location smack in the middle of happening Ubud and close to Bridges & Indus. Don't let its unassuming entrance put you off - the staff are smiling, friendly and ready to jump to assistance. The Balinese setting settles around you as you step in - and the walk down to our room was a delight... More

We had a terrible stay here in Ubud. We felt like we were camping in the outback - whilst the view is beautiful to look at it brings with it many animals and bugs who kept me up all night. On our first night in our room which was the furthest from reception we were stranded in pouring rain. Our... More
