Another surprising experience in Israel, Palacio hotel was unique and wonderful, located in the best area in all of Safed steps to all art galleries and medieval synagogues, our room was beautifully furnished, homey ,comfortable and well equipped, magnificent antique furniture throughout the whole hotel, spacious and elegant lobbies, friendly and accommodating staff, my wife and I loved the way... Nice hotel in the heart of the city. Spacious rooms (we stayed in Grand Suite) and huge public spaces, lavishly decorated with expensive carpets, museum furniture, marble sculptures and contemporary canvases. Beautiful view of the valleys and mountains from the terrace. Full bar free of charge! Hearty breakfast made to order. Very quiet, it was operated by just two people,... More

With all due respect to the guests, we would like to clarify some of their comments and respond to them as follow: 1. They were not the only guests! We are usually booked most of the time, however, our distinguished guests, either stay in their rooms or go out for sightseeing and they do not wonder in our halls! 2.... More

This is our third stay in this grand and beautiful establishment, we happen to visit Israel every year and of course make sure add a stay at The Palacio, that we have always tremendously enjoyed. We thank the management and staff for their continuous welcoming graciousness. Looking forward to our next stay.

Once you find the hotel, you have to drag your luggage up a hill to the hotel. Once inside we were greeted by a gracious host, so far, so good. The hotel is really beautiful, we were charmed (at first). We had to carry our luggage up a many stairs. If you are going to stay here - pack light........ More

After further consideration regarding how to respond to this obviousely unhappy people, we have decided that the best answer for the Tripadvisor readers is for them to read the reviews of our other wonderful and happy guests and to invite them to visit our premises and to enjoy a free sealed bottle of water! This is a former palace, tucked away in the old section of Safed. It's like being the guest of some potentate in Ottoman days--the hotel is quiet, the common rooms grand, the amenities exceptional (full, open bar, gratis). You're given a key to get in when returning after dinner, since the staff goes off and the place is yours. Our... More

I and my husband have been to this hotel in January 2012. Nobody is out and nothing is opened on Shabbat in Safed, so be prepared to drive to another city to find a restaurant. The atmosphere is very eclectic: there is a big variety of Asian and European artifacts all over the castle ( used to be many centuries... More

Loved the eclectic and colorful decor. Our rooms were large, comfortable, clean, with the added bonus in the Palacio room of a roomy private balcony. The owner and staff were friendly, helpful and hospitable. The breakfast was absolutely delicious - fresh everything with warm breads. The location was perfect. Bought several unique items in the artists' colony. Highly recommend this... More

This was the most magnificent hotel I have ever had the privilege of staying at. We booked because of the wonderful reviews but never expected such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The owner and his staff were kind, helpful and very professional . The buffet breakfast was fit for a king. Everything was perfect! We look forward to returning again... More
