Because of an internship we stayed four weeks in Beach Heaven. It's a nice hostel but with many rules. We stayed one night in the Beach Haven. The family is nice and accommodating and the house does have a lot of character (as do all of the buildings in the fort), but our room/towels/sheets were not very clean. I was never able to connect to the WiFi. The location is great and it's cheap. Expect what you pay for.

Professionally-run and very experienced - maybe the oldest guest house in the whole of Galle? Nice balcony, clean and functional rooms, wi-fi, good breakfasts. Very good base for Galle Fort and you might be able to get a discount for travelling alone. Owners speak excellent English.
