I stayed 2 nights in this resort and it was truely relaxing!! Upon arrival we were welcome by their bellboy and directed to the check-in counter, the view of the river from the lobby was marvelous and the check-in easily settled! They provide free shuttle service to Chiang Rai City, Rai Mae Fah Luang and even Central Plaza;) We stayed... More

This is a great choice to tour Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle area. This is the only hotel we have sampled in Chaing Rai, but it's hard to imagine a better one. The property is nearly new and beautiful, the rooms are spacious and well designed, the restaurants (especially Favola) are excellent, the service is flawless and the location--right... More

We are from Singapore and it's our first visit to Chiang Rai (Previously Bangkok,Krabi), the place is cooling & non humid, which was a huge relief as we come from a high humidity location Service is excellent at all levels, 99% of staff are responsive and take pains to be alert to your needs, a simple glance is enough to... We paid about $80 a night per room and were really impressed with this hotel. Two great restaurants, the staff couldn't do enough for you. The hotel is a little bit far outside of town set in 10 acres of gardens on the river, but transport into town is easily available.

The check-in was smooth and easy, we were shown to our spacious room with plenty of space for reading chair, executive desk and the large king bed. The best is as good as other Meridien that we have been in. However the bathroom, although quite large is a bit aging and has shown chips in paint. The resort is a... More

I've been coming to Thailand for twenty years now, I'd safely say this is the best hotel I've stayed in. It's beautiful setting and absolutely fantastic rooms would mean nothing if it wasn't for the most fantastic staff I've encountered anywhere in Thailand. Their professionalism and enthusiasm does both themselves and their company proud, delightful. I must single out June,... More

We booked this hotel based on our earlier experiences with Le Meridian hotels. For what we needed it served its purpose as we were out sightseeing most of the time. It appears a little deflected and needs bringing up to standard. Our bathroom needs re painting and there are lots of loose boards around the pool. The Italian restaurant is... More

This is a very classy, sophisticated hotel in every respect. My title only asks the question we all ask: how do we compare this to other hotels where we have stayed? Better than the Chedi in Chiang Mai? Certainly. The best hotels in Siem Reap (Angkor Wat)? At least the equal. OK. I admit this is like chasing one's tail.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The resort occupies an idyllic 26-rai site directly on the banks of the Mae Kok River, moments from Chiang Rai town and a one hour drive from the Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar converge. The resort is set at the heart of beautiful landscaped gardens complete with a tranquil man-made lake and two majestic 100-year-old rain trees. Surrounded by magnificent mountain scenery, the neighbouring community is a jewel waiting to be explored. Nearby attractions include Rai Mae Fah Luang, Le Méridien's chosen UnLock Art site, and Oub Kham Museum which houses a collection of objects from the ancient Lanna kingdom, Myanmar, southwest China, and Vietnam. Nearby attractions include Wat Phra Kaew, the temple that once housed the Emerald Buddha, and the Hill Tribe Education Centre with its fascinating display of tribal artefacts and handicrafts. Boat trips along the Mae Kong River are available from the town of Chiang Khong, with stops along the way at villages of interest. Ethnic groups living in the province include Karen, Lisu, Lahu, Akha, Meo, and Yao, and it is possible to arrange treks into the hill tribe villages with experienced local guides. Mae Sai is 62 kilometres north of Chiang Rai and makes for an interesting day trip. This busy trading post borders Myanmar, and it is possible to cross the bridge to visit the bustling market in Tha Khi Lek. Phu Chi Fa is a spectacular viewpoint. The impressive views are best enjoyed early in the morning, particularly in the cool season when mist covers the valley floor. A highlight to any trip to Chiang Rai is a visit to the Doi Tung Development Project. Started as a royal initiative to help eradicate opium supply, drug use, and rural poverty, the project offers villagers with a practical and sustainable alternative. The project focuses on development, education, training, humanitarian activities, environmental conservation, agriculture, and the production of quality crafts. At the summit of Doi Tung, visitors can visit Phra That Doi Tung, a chedi constructed in 911 A.D and one of the oldest and most sacred sites in northern Thailand. The chedi is said to contain the collarbone of Buddha. Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort, Thailand is located close to the town centre and a short drive from Chiang Rai Airport. ... more   less
