This place has no atmosphere and terrible rooms. The beds are uncomfortable and look far from clean. The staff were not welcoming and we even felt like we were a burden while we checked in. Hostel El Espanol is located close to Old Town and river port (ferry to BA) and is ok for one night stay, when you are just for short visit in Uruguay. Big dorm with bathroom was quite clean. WiFi was only in common area. Small breakfast included.

A no frills youth hostel, well located for Colonia with clean rooms and friendly enough service. We found it excellent value for money and conveniently located near to the bus station for early journeys!

Close to the harbour and cheap. Breakfast included, medialunas con cafe. These are the things mainly. The bath, combined with toilet are old and shabby and rusty. There is no toilet seat. They were renewing, so at 7h30 loud work begun at the window. But anyway, for one night it was cheap and close to the harbour.

Staff speak no English. Check in takes forever. The staff have their children (4 boys under 8) running around everywhere - using the computers and TV an asking for guest's food.
