Cosy, comfortable and basic. A pleasant gateway to the Vumba where we spent a few days with our children and their friends. Simple rooms, very comfortable lounge with a fire place (welcome during the winter!) and plenty of couches and chairs where to sip a port while chatting and playing board games ... There is even a big fat cat... More

This hotel Is situated about 20km from Mutare facing Mozambique . It is quiet and a beautiful hotel on the mountain slope. The rooms are well maintained but ensure that windows are kept closed to avoid having the monkeys' visit. No Wifi is available. The restaurant is small adjacent to equally small bar but never overcrowded. The staff are well... More

Beautiful view ,quiet environment and fresh air. Rooms are clean, friendly and courteous staff . The two nights we stayed were quite memorable and my family enjoyed the relaxing, cool atmosphere. The hotel is also close to other interesting views and the Leopard Rock Hotel.

Staff were very nice and location is beautiful but the Inn needs some serious updating. I suspect no real capital improvements have been made in over 20 years. The tiled shower stall in my room should have been condemned. The furniture is old and the carpets were dirty and worn. Also, bring your torch as the lights go out at... More

In my honest opinion the Inn on the Vumba is a great all-rounder. This hotel strikes just the right balance- it maintains a level of sophistication that the business traveller will appreciate being within close proximity to Mutare, whilst the hotel is also a great venue for a family on holiday. My small family and I recently stayed at three... More

if you ever have the fortunate opertunity to visit Zimbabwe make sure you stay in one of the "inns " its a hard choice as they are always so good , even in the midst of the "zimbabwe crisis " a few years back , service was brilliant , we always stayed in the one cottage situated on the edge... I am amazed to see some negative reviews here. I stayed at this hotel for three days and found it perfectly alright. I am glad that I did not read these reviews before choosing a hotel at Mutare, Zimbabwe. My stay was nice. The hotel has a nice, beautiful, differently decorated lounge. The staff at the reception was quite welcoming... More

The Inn on the Vumba is a well run good hotel. The staff are well presented, polite and happy to accommodate you; nothing is too much trouble. Plenty of advice was on offer about what to see and do. The food is of good quality, there was always plenty of choice, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, even having a daily... More

The worst hotel I ever stayed in...the toilets were smelly, there was a century-old cloth hanging over the bed looking dirty to the naked eye, I struggled to remove the linen from the bed with my bare hands as it was visibly soiled (thank God we carry our linen around). The housekeeper there carries a mere basket with a handful... More

Shabby is OK, & since I'm a farm girl, mold, mildew & dirt don't bother me too much. I expected power outages - been there before. However, the Inn has 2 generators; one for the kitchen & one for the guest rooms. On our last 2 days there, we requested the generator to light out cave-dark rooms for 2 hrs.... More

Thank you for your comments in regard to power supply at our Country Retreat , Inn on the Vumba which did not meet your expectations . Unfortunately , the main generator is positioned alongside one wing of our rooms and has to be carefully managed to avoid complaints from guests who are in the rooms close by and hence we... More
