I stayed in Protea Ryalls for 2 nights while on a business trip to Blantyre. The hotel has a old structure from outside, but the inside has a more modern touch to it, with occasional african design elements in between. The overall ambience is nice. Stayed here for 2 nights. Bedrooms large, well appointed, excellent crisp White sheets, modern bathroom. Hotel has pool and gym but no gardens. Service ok. Excellent buffet breakfasts catering for all tastes, including the Scots abroad. I enjoyed a delicious bowl of "Jungle Oats" aka porridge - thick, creamy, salty and wonderful. More

Once again in Africa, my no smoking room stank of tobacco. Hotel friendly and efficient, breakfast good, but steak in 21 Grill was totally raw! Staff very polite, but again African workmanship meant that on first use, toilet flush broke! Prices very high for Africa. More

I arrived after >10hrs of travel and received very pleasant welcome with no fuss. The rooms were clean, spacious, the a/c worked. Great food, reasonable choice, well stocked bar.
