Travellers' Choice
Moonriver Lodge is a family owned farmstay nestled in a valley of the lush mountains of Sigar Highlands. We are located half an hour away from the hustle bustle of Cameron Highlands. This is a space where children can roam freely along the food garden paths, run through the food tunnel and play with Webby the duck or Zorro the cat. This is a space where nature lovers can watch hummingbirds and butterflies drinking nectar from the flowers and listen out for the distant call of the monkeys. Here at Moonriver Lodge, we provide not just a relaxing stay but also the opportunity to learn about nature and growing food and to participate in day-to-day farming activities. Go on a trek to see the second largest flower in the world - the magnificent Rafflesia Kerrii. Hop onto the back of our tractors and join a farm tour or participate in one of our fun gardening programmes to teach your children to how food is grown. Harvest fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs from our garden to prepare a healthy, organic meal. Whatever you do here at Moonriver Lodge, you are bound to leave our gates rejuvenated but with a heavy heart to part with a place you wish was your second home. Because that's what we try to provide - a comfortable, beautiful home.

We went for a day trip to the Moonriver Lodge including guided tour around the farming areas. Shortly after arrival we found ourselves at a lovely lodge with beautiful nature around it. A wonderful place to slow down from daily stress our world put us in everyday. After a short stay at the lodge areal we had a fun ride on some AWD pick ups with the manager who showed and explained the plantation to us. Felt like a little adventure :) Tasting pure nature without the use of any pesticides was a great experience as well having fresh tomato’s right from the plant, as if grown in your own garden. Next time when we surely will come back to the lodge we will stay several days and enjoy.

Coming to Moon River Lodge was one of the best holiday ideas ever. It allowed me to step out of my comfort zone with my family and be adventurous. The food provided which was cooked with love, was extremely delicious. The family rooms allowed me to bond well with my family, allowing us to grow even closer. Coming back to Moon River Lodge will definitely be a regular thing!

Moon River Lodge has become a must visit for me whenever I go to Ipoh. It is a tranquil and serene getaway from the city where anybody will be able to relax and connect with nature. It is perfect for families, couples and even backpackers. What stood out to me was the Rafflesia trek and the fantastic home cooked food. If you’re lucky you can even try the fresh tomatoes and lettuce from the farm they run that is organic and pesticide free.

Friendly staff nice place to put on apart from city life. Was able to see some wild animals during the hiking and saw snake near our dining area. Very different kind of experience. Get to meet new friends having common interest.

The Lodge is a very relaxing place to be. The gardens are beautiful to explore and they are cute creatures to play with - dog, cats, bunnies and chickens. Beware of other creepy crawlies though which is to be expected. Check your shoes in the morning - we had Mr Toad(s) nest in our shoes several times in the night. The rooms and facilities are basic but very clean and more than adequate. Rooms are comfortable and even without air-conditioning, the ceiling fans together with the very cool night air (between 18-20ºC) are more than sufficient to ensure a very restful sleep. We do wish the cockerals wouldn't start their day so early at 5am in the mornings, but I still managed to tune them out and continue sleeping. You can choose to have your meals at the Lodge - again very simple dishes but all include super fresh fruits & vegetables grown on the farm (made into drinks or salads) which our family enjoyed thoroughly. Meat eaters may not appreciate these veg-heavy meals but you can always supplement with additional dishes from town. Staff/volunteers at the Lodge were very friendly and caring and made us feel right at home. The Lodge also helped us arrange for a car/driver to take us around to explore Cameron Highlands. The driver was very knowlegeable on places to visit and eat and we had a great time exploring the different farms and sites. It is important to note that you will have to purchase a mobile/WIFI package if you must be connected. But if your purpose is to de-stress and detox from the world, then several hours of non-acesss is tremendously beneficial. Our family enjoyed our 3-day stay very much and appreciated the hospitality shown to us.

I stayed at the Moonriver Lodge for 3 nights in August 2023 with some friends and had a great time! We were doing a biodiversity survey and the staff were extremely helpful in helping to clear some tracks for us to use. Every meal we had was home cooked, and farm grown locally! And also tasted great. The owners Billy and Peng Keat were super accommodating and friendly. I thought the lodging was very clean and comfortable considering we were in the relative wilderness, of course there were many insects and frogs just outside our door, and if some of you guys are less inclined on the living things that are not humans you can request to stay in the lodging which isn't the Mollison lodge (which we stayed in). But if you love wildlife staying @ Mollison was great! We found unique weevils and phasmids on the walls and stuff. The lodge is located with a cooling backdrop of the mountainous region and surrounding farms, I thought it was a nice view. Overall it was a positive experience and great if you're looking to be disconnected and stay in the mountains for a few nights! (The connection is spotty but I think its good to be disconnected sometimes)

Thanks for your kind review and especially to you and team, we are now clearing more trails within the lodge and created an easy night trek trail which guests can explore on their own. We have also built more bird tables since there are so many beautiful ones around the lodge. Will probably try our hand at making a light trap (no promises) as this is not really our expertise but since we have more nature lovers visiting, may be worth the effort. Can't wait to host you and friends again and this time perhaps we can explore the Rafflesia Trek area at night!

Moonriver Lodge is an excellent place to stay away 45min-1 hr from the hustle and bustle of Cameron Highlands that I find too crowded and commercialized The accommodation is basic but the surroundings more than make up for it. As you walk thru the gardens, the small waterfall and the patches of greens and farm animals it is obvious this was all organically expanded over the years. The farm practice permaculture, meals and drinks is of course full of greens, all. organic and ample. There are some activities like ping pong, badminton and games if the kids are ever bored. Data reception is poor but perhaps that is the point. We went for the rafflesia trek. You can see some of the pictures below. We will be back for the mossy forest!

Thanks for your kind review. Yes, we will wait for your return and this time, more advance notice so we can apply for the permit needed for mossy forest trek. The mountain is usually closed from Nov-Jan, so you can plan to come after that.

First time was great, Second time was amazing, and this time was definitely excellent! We bring our onw tent, own staff... Yes, this time we camp here! Inspired by the campers when we first visit a years ago. Finally we camped here. The environments are cool, kids friendly, most important after previous visit, our kids are super familiar with this place. They always know where to find the rabbits and chicken. After this trip, my kids already asking when will be the next visiting to MRL again. Yes, this is always our chosen place to spend our short vacation. Feel sorry to Billie we couldn't bring some more folks here. Cos not everyone appreciated and enjoy the mother nature. And again, thanks Billie for the good arrangement.
