The cabin was very comfortable and we enjoyed very much sleeping with the sound of the waves under our feet. We were also lucky and stayed alone one of the 3 nights. The kunas are not very friendly and so was the service at the lodge, just correct. Food was good but scarce, we were hungry every day. However, at... More

It is very very overpriced. Probably the owner (never seen) takes much money but doesn't give enough for the service. Everything happened: bugs in the bags, insufficient food, awake call 3 hours before the check out at 2 and half a.m.(!!), not planned trips and the people was always asking for money. However in other bungalows of the area the... More

Kuna Yala allows only indigenous people to own and work in their archipelago and they allow no conventional development on the over-400 islands. Everything from outside the area has to be flown in on small planes or brought by infrequent small boats. In that context, Sapibenega does a great job providing rustic, but functional and beatiful accommodations. You fly in... More

We stayed here 3 nights and due to bad weather, most of the tours were cancelled and this gives of course a wrong impression, but because of this, our experience is average. There are 6 bungalows on the small island and a restaurant. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are fine with good views, good beds and even warm... More

Although the San Blas Islands are very beautiful Sapibenga has many problems. It is vfery basic which would be fine if it were priced appropriately. We were without water most of the time but the staff did manage to fix the pipe under the ocean each day. The owners are in Panama City and seem to care nothing about the... More

My husband, a friend, and I stayed at Sapibenega for 4 nights in early June. We LOVED it. We were the only guests on the island, which made it particularly nice. Our cabins were large and airy and the beds super comfortable. Only drawback was that the mosquito netting was not big enough for one bed, and the ceiling fan... More

We stayed 6 nights at Sapibenega and found it all that we expected. One has to appreciate the uniqueness of the Kuna people and a place on earth where there are no hotels or developments on a 150-mile long coastline. We found the staff warm and wonderful and very eager to provide a good experience. Lunch and dinner depends on... More

The unfortunate part of our stay was that it only lasted 2 days. The weather was beautiful, the hosts were gracious and fun and the food was quite good. Both my wife and I love seafood which put us right at home. We went snorkeling twice in some excellent places, visited a cemetery and went to the island town of... More

For what you get, it is very overpriced. I also would have expected some fresh food, plenty of fish as well as fruit. The food got lost in the very small plates. And there is no way to buy your own food. The accommodations are very, very basic, but clean. If you're lucky, you open the faucet and have water.... More

This place tries to bill itself as a nice "robinson crusoe" type of experience. The cabins are clean and the island is tiny. There is intermittent water (they do not tell you when the water comes on) and if you are one of the tourists to take the first shower in the evening you will have hot water (which is... More
