I differ with many reviewers of this hotel. It was an ex KGB hangout, it has the old Russian charm and is close to everything. It is inexpensive and a short walk from the river. I liked it but I am not a five star plastic hotel person.

stayed here with party of 25 sixth form students. Hotel total dump, dirty, unsafe and unpleasant. Full of other students and badly behaved teachers. Do not go here.

Stayed here on a school trip to Russia, was a great trip, had a right laugh, but yes. I wouldn't choose to stay here again. The Hotel Neva was a revelation. You are never filled with confidence when a sign at the front desk greets you that you will have to run the hot water tap for ten minutes prior to your shower.
