This is a really pretty place filled with traditional rustic charm while maintaining the basic comforts to foreigners. Staff are friendly and helpful. Stay here if you want to get a taste of traditional Japanese way of living - am not sure exactly how true to tradition this place is but definitely having a clean room with clean sheets, fresh... One of the better priced ryokans we found in Kyoto. It is a only a 15min walk from Kyoto station and was very clean and well appointed. It has a private shower (as opposed to communal onsen-style bathing found in many other budget ryokans) and has facilities for laundry and a basic kitchenette. The downside is that it is not... More

Room was nice, japanese style. Ryokan experience is good. Bath is very picturesque. It does seem a little on the business side, more touristic than classic, but that's the whole kyoto really. It looks tourism is the main industry in the city. Girls at reception were helpful and eager to help. Tea ceremony was very interesting A little expensive but... More

This ryokan is well situated for both the sights and the station in Kyoto. It is very quaint with a lovely atmosphere and very helpful staff. The room was tiny but cosy and you get an impression of authentic Japan here. Only downside is that there is a slight youth hostel feel to it (having said that we made good... More

We stayed here for one night after staying in more conventional hotels. It was a great place. The location is perfect, 20 min walk from Kyoto station or a few minutes to a bus (you pay when you get off). The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English and helped us book a tour that was "sold... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in a single room with private bath. I have informed them that I would be arriving very late past midnight and they gladly arranged a staff to wait for me. He even helped to give directions to the taxi driver on the phone from Kyoto Station to the Ryokan and waited for my arrival by... More

Returned to UK today from the Nagomi Ryokan. I found my six night stay brilliant. It was everything I had hoped it would be. My room with shower and toilet was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful with just about everything from sorting out return taxi journies to advice on local matters and japanese pronunciation. The closeness... More

This is a nice hotel, but not really a family run Ryokan at all. Room was on the small side for Kyoto ryokans and it felt a little 'fake'. The girls who worked behind the reception counter seemed to be picked for their looks in a kimono (which they then try to sell) rather than their willingness to help travelers... More

The staff is polite and helpful and they have male staff now...so maybe they can help with heavy luggage. While we waited for our room to be ready, we are able to wait at the cosy breakfast room and have free coffee..really nice gesture from them. 3 of us stayed one of the room that comes with a small connecting...
