I recently traveled to Kyoto for a work conference in late November 2011. While the conference itself was located at the convention center and required a daily train commute, I am very satisfied with my decision to stay at Kyoto Tokyu Hotel. Prior posts have commented that the location is not ideal. However, I found the hotel to be easily... More

The important thing to know with this hotel is that it's a long way to Gion - which is where you'll want to eat and explore. It's a long long walk to the nearest train station or you can take two buses to get to town. It takes about 20 minutes to half an hour depending on traffic. Our room... More

Great hotel and a good location - tucked away into the Kyoto silence. Next to a huge temple. I do not review service quality in Japan! More

The room was modern, well equipped and clean, and size was ok. The hotel has attractive water feature/garden. Good underground parking though you pay a fee. We enjoyed the food in the main restaurant/coffee shop. They also have two other restaurants specializing in Japanese and Chinese food that we didn't try. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of... More

Stayed here for 5 nights (first time guest) First . . . the bad (a) I had a tiny rental car and the underground parking spots are TOO narrow (4 inches between cars!!). It really is an unadvertised disaster. It will be awkward to park if you arrive by car. (b) The bar fridge in the room was so loaded... More

We didn't realise the hotel had a shuttle bus and walked for 25mins in the pouring rain the day we arrived! The bus goes from the taxi rank side of the station, outside McDonalds. Wish we had realised that!! Once we arrived the staff were very helpful and took our bags and showed us to our room. The room was... More

Nice hotel with very polite staff and nice rooms. The hotel had a music programme for all in the evening which was very interesting. Very quiet at night. More

I stayed at the Tokyu hotel in Kyoto last month as part of a Travelsphere tour group. The hotel was very comfortable and our room was very nice and fairly spacious. We had a nice view out over the Japanese garden which was in the centre of the hotel. The staff were always very polite and friendly. Our tour guide... More

We are here now -- getting ready to leave after two nights in the hotel. The staff is very nice. The rooms are average but fine. We are here during Cherry blossom time with adult son who made reservations at last minute and found more centrally located hotels already booked. We took a cab from the Train station although now... We visited Kyoto during the Cherry Blossom season, so the availability of hotels in town was limited and prices were on high since it was peak season, which is how we ended up at Tokyu. Tokyu Hotel has a lot of positive features: - Inviting lobby with beautiful water feature - Wonderful concierge accustomed to dealing with international guests -... More
