I have very few requirements in a hotel. I need a clean, quiet room with a comfortable bed to sleep in, a staff that can answer questions, some help when needed, and some basic amenities like towels and coffee. The Hyatt, while a lovely hotel, dropped the ball in all of these areas at some point during my one-week stay.... more

This hotel has a good brand behind it but maybe not much else. The property is at least 30 years old, and they have clearly attempted to renovate. Some details went untouched, unfortunately. The rooms are average for a Hyatt and are below the quality of comparable chains, including Hilton and Intercontinental. I've stayed at the Hilton downtown in Austin,... more

The hotel was OK, but more. A little to expensive, and not very high standard. more

Reliable Hyatt, easy check in and check out, everything perfectly fine. Sound insulation not great as with other Hyatts so could hear doors closing in the morning, but not really a noisy hotel. It was about a $5 cab ride from Sixth Street and just a few minutes. The hotel is bright and spacious, with a running path that goes... more

Stayed here for two nights and the best thing about the hotel was the great lake views from the room. The room itself was OK, the problem was the staff was unprofessional, lacked basic knowledge of their own city and didn't understand how to run a high-end hotel like other Hyatt locations do. Maybe the unprofessionalism is just an Austin... more

First room wasn't clean, second room was only slightly better. Guest services staff (Danielle) was not only not helpful but seemed genuinely put out to be bothered. Hotel is modern and furnished well - it could be a gem with a little more effort. more

This hotel must have been built at the tail end of an era when the lobby atrium that reaches to the sky--and capsule elevators that transport people up and down--were in vogue. I'll bet that a few years ago, pre-renovation, it was probably starting to feel very dated. But they did an excellent job of making it contemporary and appealing,... more

Impressive interior patio, avoid the upper floors if afraid of heights. Rooms clean and recently decorated. Very nice view on downtown Austin across the Town Lake. Business package includes Breakfast, Wired Internet in the room, 1 shirt pressed per day. Breakfast very good (eggs prepared to order...). Expensive if you have to pay yourself, otherwise good hotel for business travellers. more

Though I only stayed here briefly for a conference, this hotel was outstanding. Staff were very customer-oriented, and the facility was clean, quiet and comfortable. Restaurant was reasonably priced, and the selection of entrees was very nice. Liked the ability to check out online and have my folio sent to my inbox. Location of the hotel is convenient to downtown... more

I have been to Austin a number of times and would rate this hotel as average. I was there during a humid week and the in-room air conditioner could not pull out the moisture...so it was cold and wet. The balcony was nice, the staff very friendly, the rooom a bit small, the layout neat, the elevator doors made a... more
