The house / Villa is very beautiful and impressing. Our room was very big and the furniture and whole decoration very beautiful and lovely. Old furniture mixed with some modern accessories. Tasty breakfast was served on our own veranda with a wonderful view to Rio. The area of the hotel has nice Bars and Restaurants around and we felt very... More

If you wish for a quiet stay in Rio, perhaps in old quaint Santa Teresa district then you couldn't be in a better hotel. It is a smallish establishment offering wonderful accommodation with uphill views of Rio and the sea. The hotel is very stylishly decorated with interesting pictures, figurines and other artefacts. The reception staff are always around to... More

Mama Ruisa is a quiet oasis of comfort and luxury in Santa Teresa. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. The staff (esp Jean MIchelle) was extraordinarily attentive and pleasant - helped us make our stay in Rio really memorable. Will definitely stay there on our next visit to Rio - hopefully for a longer time.

This hotel is gorgeous, both interior and exterior a picture with beautiful rooms (ours was Josephine Baker), breakfast on our own balcony, views of Rio centre and very attentive service and guidance from Jean Michel Ruis and his staff. Meals by day are limited to bar food and drink albeit delicious. Excellent restaurants are very close, the tourist attractions of... More

At Mama Ruisa you really get the feeling you are a guest in a private grand house. It is situated in a nice bohemian area. The host Jean was very nice and EXTREMELY helpful with excellent tips and knowledge of the city. We got the Collete suite which we loved. Very special and romantic with a lovely view from the... This is the best, most charming, most tasteful, warm, fantastic magical hotel in the whole world. And I've stayed in hundreds of boutique hotels. The breakfast is delicious, the rooms are huge with 15' ceilings. The view is great, the neighborhood is the best.

Hotel is run by the owner who takes very good care of you. The small number of rooms and peaceful atmosphere makes for a very relaxing home-like feel to the accommodation. Beautiful quiet area with cobble stone streets and cute little shops and restaurants. Will definitely return :)

Love this hotel! I have stayed here twice and both times it was lovely. The rooms are large and beautiful and the owners/ staff are a pleasure. The decorating is amazing and feels very unique. Don't miss out on breakfast- the most amazing pineapple and mint homemade fresh squeezed juice!

I love this little hotel. It is in a quiet street away from the rather touristic center of Santa Theresa. The hotel is in a 19th century villa which has been whitewashed and fitted out in a pretty colonial style. The public rooms are gorgeous as is the small city garden with an elegant pool. The views across to the... More
