We stayed a night at Bago Star en-route to Golden Rock. The room itself was quite dark and dingy, but I could have forgiven that (albeit the price-tag for the room was WAY too high). What bothered me most was how uncomfortable I felt here. It actually felt eerie and almost unsafe. There were large groups of young local boys... More

Dark, no-view rooms that you want to escape from. Breakfast was okay. Staff quite friendly and helpful, and there's a swimming pool. Being off the main road it is quiet. Way overpriced, though, and wouldn't stay there again.

I stayed here for one night in November 2012. A bit pricey for what you get. The room was very spacious and clean, but quite dark. I used the pool in the early evening to cool down which was quite nice. Breakfast was simple but fast and efficient. The receptionist was lovely and helped me book my next nights accommodation... This hotel was TERRIBLE. Here is our story with the Bago Star. We (2 women) arrived at the hotel in a taxi from Yangon. We were greeted by about 6 men / boys, one of whom seemed to be the receptionist. Upon checking in, we asked him if he could help us to book a bus to go to Golden... More

The rooms are nice and the staff is friendly and there is enough to see in Bago. But you have to be aware that the hotel is a bit out of town and there are no restaurants in the direct neigbourhood. On the first day I rented a bycicle. The second day I hired a guide with a motorbike, which... More

Alley-ways of closely connected units designed to look like separate "bungalows", but are not really. Clean but dark teak and tile interior. Minor bed bug problem. Staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, they work with a commission agent who meets the bus and accompanies you to the hotel which is some distance from the town center. He then offers to... More

Bungalow style rooms in a garden setting, but no seats or place to sit outside. Spacious but dark rooms with airco and TV. On the higher end of the pricing scale. Friendly staff. Far away from the center. Dirty looking swimming pool. Good base to visit the Golden Rock and Moeyungyi Wetlands and for a day cycling in and around... More

There is actually no argument for stayin in Bago - even if Lonely Planet tells you something different. The bus ride takes only 1 1/4 hrs, so better take a taxi from Yangon to visit the golden rock and avoid Bago at all. There´s also no taxis in Bago, only motos. Money Exchange is only available at the hotel or... More

Acceptabble Far from the "center" of Bago (1.5 Km) Small rooms. Not very nice staff. I would not recommend the swimming pool, but some were using it. The restaurant was closed when we stayed. We have paid 30 USD per night
