This was our second port of call during our tour of Kerala. We were met by the sight of an attractive country house at the end of a very bumpy, dusty road through rubber plantations. Its gardens were immaculate with a pretty stream crossed by a picturesque footbridge; tiny frogs jumped as we approached. We were greeted by Jose and... More

After a fascinating drive from Fort Kochin we were met on the doorstep of this beautiful bungalow by Daisy and Jose. Given a delightful fresh fruit cooling drink and given a most informative introduction to life on a rubber plantation by Jose, a member of a large family of plantation owners in Kerala. Daisy ascertained our dietary requirements after which... More

The title I have chosen for my review says it all really .This establishment was suggested to us by our agent in Kerala to break the journey from Cochin to our next place of call . How pleased we are, that we took that advice and stopped off at Mundackal Plantation . We were greeted with a sincere warm welcome... More

Enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay at this fantastic home stay. Food is just amazing. Charming hosts, really nice room and beautiful, peaceful setting. Handy for the excellent bird reserve. Didn't want to leave.

The 'Munnar' address seems to be used to describe almost half the highlands of Kerala. This home stay is nowhere near Munnar but is located around half way between Kochi and the town of Munnar itself, a couple of hours drive from Fort Kochi. The bedroom was rather basic but clean and air conditioned. This was more than made up... More

We spent 2 days and nights at Mundackal with Jose and Daisy and had a fantastic time. It is such a peaceful place you can't help but relax. We enjoyed walking around the plantation and found Jose's tour really interesting explaining how rubber is created. Daisy is a fabulous cook. There was always a great variety of dishes at every... Lovely house set amongst spices and a rubber plantation. Made very welcome and enjoyed good lunch and dinner. I have to say, it would have been nice if the hosts had eaten with us tho. The room was a little more basic than I was expecting but fine for a single night. Overall not quite the cosy guesthouse I’d anticipated... More

We stayed here 2 nights with our 2 little children. They felt really at home there. Food is excellent and the (rubber) plantation tour is great. We had a very spacious room, clean and a nice shower room. The Kodanad Elephant Kraal is nearby and Daisy was so friendly to provide a packed breakfast for us, also the great Bird... More

We had three nights at Mundackal Home stay in mid December. Our hosts Jose and Daisy couldn't have made us more welcome or looked after us better. Daisy is, according to our guide in the bird sanctuary, the best cook in India and I can't disagree with him! Jose made sure we visited everything of interest in the area including... More

A group of 8 fellow travellers visited this rubber plantation, which also offers home stays and cooking classes, in November. We were extremely warmly welcomed and hosted on a tour of the grounds, a cooking class, and served Kerala-style cuisine for lunch by the hosts, Jose and Daisy Mundackal. There aren't too many places on earth which can prepare a... More
