I've been three times and had a terrific experience each time. Imagine sitting at the end of your bed and watching a kingfisher four feet away on a post by the river. Then imagine a croc waiting for dinner and wondering if the warthogs are going to make it (or be it). The night drives are fantastic and a rare... More

It is situated on the banks of Galana River making it a wonderful location. Everything around was very dry but the river was gushing with water. The chef was fantastic and even managed to cater for vegetarians even though he was informed last minute. The caretaker was also lovely and very helpful. It is quite expensive but a nice place... The experience in kulalu camp was fantastic. The staff were friendly and jovial. We could watch animals drinking water from their restaurant and at the tents entrance. For those who like reading there was a mini-library with interesting books and if u prefer fishing the tools were there. At night I could hear lions roars. The design of their bathroom is very unique... More

Only 5 tented camps located on the river. First tent is a family tent can accomodate 5. The bathrooms are really interesting but too many bugs coming in, gets abit annoying. Tents are spacious and service is good. Free laundry, drinks inclusive. Fishing and sundowner available. Food is good...loved the kitchen! Friendly staff....would recommend

This is a beautifully run little private camp. You can tailor your stay here to suit your interests. The staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable, The tents are well separated with very comfy beds, good mosquito protection and a fan, and all of them overlook the river with their own little veranda. The stunning bathrooms have typical trickley camp showers,... More

Living in Kenya for the past 18 years, we travel extensively, love safari, visiting new hotels and lodges. Kulalu Camp just outside of Sala gate of Tsavo National Park was an unexpected surprise. We travelled with Kenya Museum Society on 4 days Easter trip to Malindi through Tsavo East National Park, entering at Manyani Gate and exiting at Sala Gate.... More

I stayed at Kulalu Camp Feb 2012 and can say that it provides wonderfully relaxing accommodation in the 'real' African bush. Staff are extremely friendly and make visitors feel very welcome. Located on the Galana River it is normal to see all sorts of game coming to the river for water which is easily visible from the camp. Accommodation is... More

I stayed here whilst visiting tsavo on safari and was amazed by it. beautiful, peaceful and a different world. the tens were spacious and well kept and the bathrooms were better than some hotels I have been to! This is real Africa: peaceful, beautiful and isolated in a 60,000-acre conservancy. Kulalu is idyllic, with tents on the bank overlooking the Galana River. Lie on your bed and watch crocs stalking warthog, heron fishing, impala or elephant coming down to drink (there are lion and leopard too, plus much, much more). On your game drives, you'll be unlucky to... More

A stay at watamu for my annual fishing trip, would not be the same without a visit to Kulalu camp to relax after the exhausting days hunting the marlin and sailfish that abound in the indian ocean. A quick trip inland takes me to the peace and quiet of Galana ranch. this the real Africa ,wild and wonderful, hardly a... More
