For RM385 per night, I would expect something better. The place had the old time charm, for sure. But the service level was inconsistent. Sometimes we had to ask for things twice or three times. Hot water is available until 11pm only. There wasn't notice regarding that. I started filling my tub at about 10-ish hoping for a late night... more

Authentic old style decor but in need of some TLC. Ants in the bathroom which has been referred to a number of times in other reviews. Appreciated all the charm of a bygone era but the food was not good enough for the prices and although a reasonable choice of wines were offered they were outrageously expensive - the cheapest... more

The Ye Old Smokehouse hotel in/on Fraser Hill was a pleasant surprise for us. We've been away from Europe over 6 months now and the hotel just gave us the feeling of being back. The hotel/hill was covered in clouds / mist for 3 days, but that made the whole atmosphere very cosy and mistirious. The staff was very friendly... more

I stayed at The Smokehouse with a friend for two nights from 5th November 2009. Having read all the other posts I agree with most of the comments. It’s a lovely spot marred simply by a lack of maintenance, although the staff work hard to keep the place clean and your stay comfortable. My room was damp and musty which... more

Having stayed at the Old Smokehouse in Cameron Highland, which was average to poor, our expectations we modest, but the Old Smokehouse in Frasers Hill is definitely the best of the two. Placed at a nice location overlooking the moutain area. The rooms are spaceous, old, but the basics are working fine and they are full of character. The food... more

Sad that I have to re- write this review after giving them a thumbs up review in Dec 2008. My recent trip back to the hotel was far too unpleasant. The rooms (2 adjoining rooms) had damp carpets on arrival , ants were crawling everywhere especially the toilets. The curtain in the room was not closing very well when our... more

Just returned from a trip to Frasers Hill. On the whole, the holiday was superb. The only 'letdown' was our visit for an English Tea at ' The Smokehouse'. Being known for its "English" theme, I was overwhelmed to experience English teatime. The menu was what should be and would likely be ordered by most customers. Devonshire Tea + 2 scones... more

It is certainly eccentric. And is probably overpriced. But still charming and I felt very comfortable and at home here. The staff were lovely. We were the only guests and had the entire place to ourselves. The gardens are charming. The cooking was surprisingly good. Even the cream tea was authentic. I felt like I was staying at my grandmothers.... more

I was skeptical when going to the "Smoke House" again... previous experience from Cameron Highlands with the same hotel name only brought me endless of disappointments. But after going through Trip Advisor's recommendations, I've decided to go for a try... and it does not disappoint at all!!! It's my first time here in Fraser's Hill. Yes, to some it is... more

The winding road up was quite terrible since I suffer from motion sickness. It's good to go on an early trip since there is a schedule for the one-way (traffic) use of the road up the hill, called the "The Gap". My minor headache disappeared the moment we reached the end of the "The Gap", into the little town of... more
