Tough town to find a place to stay.. I felt like it was spend a fortune or tolerate places that got some pretty bad reviews. This hostel is not pretty, but very clean, great shower, good breakfast and very inexpensive. Great value. Since the goal here is to simply get to Machu Picchu at a reasonable time. This hostel serves... More

...i agree with the other reviews - this place deserves a high rating. We stayed for 3 nights - although we thought we would get a double bed configuration - we got 2 singles instead - the beds were super comfortable and warm, the bathroom had a fabulous shower with instant hot water, the overall room was very clean. We... More

Arrived late but comfy bed to fall into and breakfast from 4.30am. Tea, cafe, rolls and jam, juice and eggs to start the day. Room was spacious, clean and wifi worked on 2nd floor. Hot water was strong. $30 for 1 night. Turn right as soon as you exit train station (along a little market alley). Take first right onto... More

I will try to be fair. The communication with the hostel was terrible. I tried to book my stay by email but within 3 days did not recieve any answer so I called. Good thing I speak spanish. I insisted through email because I wanted some sort of confirmation until a week later I got one. Later I found out... More

Sol de Oro was one of the cleanest inexpensive places I stayed during my travels in Peru. The staff was friendly and the showers had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was basic and the staff was very friendly. Recommended.

It was a nice surprise as we were met at the station by a woman( with our names on a board )which was helpful as it saved us having to navigate our way, and the hostel was about 5-7 minutes walk away. Rooms: We had booked through Hostelworld .com so probably given the better room with windows in bedroom and... More

We spent one night here before heading to Machu Pichu. The staff was great and met us at the train station, and it was a 5 minute walk to the hostal. We had a double-bed with bathroom ensuite. The room and bathroom were clean, and there was hot water. It's great that breakfast is between 4:30am and 9am, to accommodate... More

The company that arranged my trek booked a room for me at this place, so I didn't know what to expect. Thankfully, when I arrived at the train station hotel staff met me, brought me to the hotel (five minutes away), and showed me to a decent room with two beds--one more comfortable than the other. My room didn't have... More
