I was staying in monkey wasi during low season and get very lucky because it wasnt that busy. I really like my stay there because of the great atmosphere the owner made of. We had a nice room. Toilet facilities were clean. I really loved the climbing wall. We shared some meals with the staff and great moment with the... More

I felt very comfortable here, like at home and was glad about such a friendly, uncomplicated hostel. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The kitchen is clean and the price 20 soles for a shared room with not much people in it good. I could stay not only until the checkout, but longer for free because it was low-season. Very nice! Also... More

I didn't have a bad experience and the 30.00 soles private room was inexpensive, but I have no idea how this place got it's #1 rating. The location is not that great, the hostel is minimally equipped at best, there were no towels/soap and the bathrooms were cramped and uncomfortable, and the owner (while outwardly nice) was running around all... We are sorry that you did not have the best experience with us. We are in the process of organising new staff which is why there is a gap in customer service for a short period. We are trying our best to rectify this quickly. More

Homey, Secure and Complete. The management is friendly and helpful. Gustavo puts much effort making sure all needs are met from basics around the pad to extra information around town and extended adventures. It is located in a nice quaint part of town. It's quiet and a block walk to excellent local food/restaurants, corner stores and great a ice cream... More

The rooms are very basic. The kitchen can be used, but at the time of our stay it was quite filthy... There's a cool terrasse for evening beers and a bouldering wall for active guests. Staff was very nice and easy going

My brother and I stayed here for 2 nights. The owner, Gustavo, repeatedly went out of his way to accomodate our needs. He welcomed us early in the morning when we arrived on our overnight bus from Trujillo. We needed to store our luggage because we were doing a 3 day trek and the night before, we had to take... More

Unfortunately I only had a short stay in Huaraz of two nights, but found Monkeywasi to be a perfect place to relax after hiking and biking. I arrived at 6am, and was able to check straight into a room and get some extra sleep before the owner Gustavo showed me around the town a bit. I didn't leave until 11pm... More
