Echoing many of the sentiments already given by others regarding the rooms especially the damp smell, I would suggest that whilst this hotel may have undergone a recent overhaul to its setup, there is still someway to go. However, we appreciate that the translation of '5 star' may differ from place to place and our two days there were a... More

This hotel is beautiful, a haven to come home to. It is a modern design which is an oasis of tranquility in a bustling country. The staff are also delightful as was the food. In all a perfect place to stay whilst taking day trips out to the Cultural triangle. More

The rooms were very new, modern design with nice touches inside, bathrooms huge and nice spa in inside. Most importantly, the grounds of the hotel were beautiful, with their own crops and even a cricket ground. Food was good without being anything special, but drinks were all reasonable priced as well. Would recommend this hotel. It is more boutique style,... More

We had arrived here tired after a long day of sightseeing, we were greeted warmly by the staff and refreshed with cool, wet face towels, free foot massage vouchers and a freshly squeezed juice whilst we checked in (nice touch). You immediately notice the funky bar area and long pool which are all integrated into the lobby area. The room... More

This place is heavenly, beautiful gardens, pool, buildings and setting. Ultra modern with fabulous long pool which ends into the reception area. Set within their own mango orchard, paddy fields and veg plots. Offered free 10minute massage voucher each on arrival for the spa. One of us used this whilst one paid for back and shoulder massage, was fab. The... More

I was slightly disappointed in the hotel to start with, but then I was charmed with the simplicity of the hotel. We booked a superior room, which was large with a roomy bathroom and jakuzzi bath, although there was a slightly damp smell it was very comfortable. The included evening meal was set menu, and buffet style, but was OK.... More

We spent 4 nights in this hotel in December. Our tour guide suggested that we stay in town Dambulla, while visiting the different locations in the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka. We checked out 2 other hotels in Dambulla (which were not bad either), however when we arrived in this hotel (or resort), we decided immediately that we will stay... More

Design Hotel and Spa is very nice where we were staying when we walked in Sri Lanka was Thilanka Resort Hotel and Spa, near Dambulla. At about 20 large and spacious rooms and is located in the green rice fields and there was a nice herb garden, swimming pool and spa. Guests from the hotel offered a neck massage of... More

I can recommend Thilanka Resort and Spa in Dambulla as very relaxing and cosy place. Good customer service, great location, nice rooms, quite surroundings. Food was not very good, buffet style, but with bad quality meals. Massage in Spa was average, although advertised as Ayurveda, it was not exactly what we expected to be. More

We had an amazing experience at Thilanka resort and spa - from the exceptional service and delicious cuisine, to the stunning scenery and beautiful Vilas, it was one of the best places we have ever visited. We had such a lovely, relaxing time, and hope to return very soon! More
