Loved our stay at Carlton. Its location is brilliant, the rooms are clean, bathrooms are of better standard than mine at home and the staff is friendly. I'll definitely choose Carlton again on my next stay in Mumbai.

Great location in Colaba near the Gateway of India. A somewhat shabby exterior could be misleading as the rooms are clean and the staff obliging. Mumbai is a very expensive city by Indiam standards so don't expect a lot for the amount that you are paying here. Leopold's cafe just round the corner is a must.
I stayed here in Feb 2011, after having spent 2 nights in an absolute dive near Chowpatty Beach called 'The Royal Castle' ( which cost the equivilant of £30 per night!! for a windowless room with airconditioning hanging off the ceiling and raw wires in the bathroom)...
Needless to say the Carlton Hotel seemed very nice and as a solo...

Whenever I arrive in Mumbai I'm tired and rather than traipse around looking for a room or argue with touts about where to go, I get a taxi to The Taj Hotel, which is probably the most famous and expensive hotel in Mumbai. I usually have to repeat the destination a few times as the driver inspects me in his...

We chose this hotel for its great location. However, we had a terrible experience.
Although we had booked one week before and were told that no confirmation was needed, the staff did not seem to know that we had a reservation. Fortunately there were some free rooms. The rooms with privated bathroom were more than twice the price than those...

This hotel is on the second floor of an old building in the great Colaba neighbourhood, it's located just behind the famous Taj hotel and very close to India Gate. There are a lot of great things to see and nice places to eat. The manager was always quick to help us with questions but he was also very persistent...

We phoned three days in advance and were promised a room at 1350. After advising our arrival time on the phone, we showed up on time around 11pm after a long journey from udaipur. The manager told us he had not saved us a room as people don't often show up and he had completely disregarded our booking. He told...

Not bad for Mumbi and really good as Indian hotels seem to go. Great location in Colaba, helpful staff (was greeted by the manager while he was having a shave) and nice balcony. The entrance looks terrible, but get up to the first floor and it improves. I stayed in a double room for Rs1250 a night in early Jan....

We stayed at the Carlton at the start (Dec) and end (Jan) of our trip. The hotel is perfectly located and traffic was cut off around the hotel for security reasons (due to proximity with the neighbouring Taj), which was a great advantage: a central hotel with far less noise than anywhere else around!
The owner and employees are friendly...
