This is a first-class hotel for those who enjoy gazing from heights at Shanghai's even bolder emerging sky-line. The Grand Hyatt combines modern conveniences (excellent gym and sleek styling) with old-world elegance (lovely pool, expansive buffet breakfast). The rooms and beds are comfortable, the bathrooms fully equipped. Service ethos is strong despite the occasional communication challenges, and the managers are outstanding. Our group hosted an event in a private room that was beautifully supported from... More

I lived in Shanghai for 3+ years and worked in JinMao Tower where this hotel is located but never stayed there. Now I live in BeiJing, so stayed for 4 days this week.Got a room on top floor (85) and the views were Great of course. I did not get a Bund view - suspect that is not available to discounted corporate rates - but still great, airplane level views. The room was very good... More

Incredible beautiful building, inside and out, the view from the room is just breathtaking, everything else is just subtle and luxurious. More

As with the other modern hotels I have experienced in Beijing and Shanghai, the Grand Hyatt Shanghai rates very highly. The gym has convenient hours and is well equipped with free weights, cardio, and weight machines. The breakfast spread is excellent, offering both Asian and Western fare. There is also a Starbucks conveniently located in the office tower (2nd floor) that houses the hotel. More

Very nice river-view room, very clean and close to the subway. However, we weren't informed that the breakfast was not included in the room charge (no price list at the door, no menu to be seen), so a friend and I were surprised when we received a 480 Yuan bill in the middle of our breakfast, which was not of good value at all for some croissants and stir-fry. I stayed this year in the Grand Hyatt after many trips to the Shangri La. The main issue is its location, the reception on the 54th Floor and the rooms requiring a lift change. For me it was just time consuming and more difficult that an outside access hotel. My room was upgraded to a Club Room and this was very nice as it had just been renovated. The breakfast for and buffet I found... More

I stayed at this hotel in September. Excellent service and helpful concierge. The decor of the room was slightly dark for my taste, but it was quite nicely appointed. The bathroom was quite spacious with a large tub to soak in as well as a separate shower. I was traveling on business, so I didn't have much time to try the restaurants there except for the casual cafe, which had decent breakfast. The sky lounge... More

Stayed at this hotel during my first visit to Shanghai. Points of Note are very centrally located in Pudong, extremely efficient staff, eager to help all the time. The hotel is an architectural wonder and you are amazed with the views both inside and outside. The rooms themselves are a bit constrained, overall OK. They probably need to upgrade their rooms in a couple of years as everything is starting to show its age furniture/fixtures,... More

Just stayed at the Grand Hyatt Beijing and moved to Grand Hyatt Shanghai, service was pretty good at both places, but Shanghai definitely has the better hotel. Of course everyone raves about the view which is indeed spectacular, it was the room itself with its much more generous size, more modern design and better maintenance that distinguished the property. Breakfast was pretty good too, and I particularly applaud the inclusion of local delicacies such as... More

It's certainly true that there are hotels (and wonderful little boutique hotels) springing up all the time in Shanghai, but I still find myself returning to the Grand Hyatt Shanghai every time I visit Shanghai (which now is twice/year but I've been staying at the Shanghai Grand Hyatt since 2000 on various visits, and I also lived in Shanghai 2004-2007 and used the restaurants and Club Jin Mao and Cloud 9 whenever going over to...
