Excellent hotel. Bathroom is very nice, room is large, bed is comfortable, hall ways are nice and big, elevator is fast, breakfast is excellent for a Chinese hotel with international and Chinese food, stuff very polite, but not all speak English. The hotel is quite nice. Rooms are modern , big and very good. Modern and clean bathroom like other modern 4 star hotel. Breakfast is also ok. But the area is very quite with no restaurant, shops or malls nearby which may be little boring in the evening. However if you have work in Pudong area then it is convenient.

Good location in the heart of the city, close to exhibition centre and main business areas, shopping areas. A little old property therefore everything has a slight old look and feel- breakfast spread is ok. but central location makes it suitable for business travellers.

As a previous reviewer stated, this is a stated-owned hotel and therefore not as plush nor as service-oriented for a business traveler as might be expected. I've been several times to Tong Mao and find it good place for staying. It has a good access to shopping areas, business centers and metro station in Shanghai. The hotel service is fine and good hotel staff is an advantage of this hotel. Also it has a big SPA center which is quite clean and unique.
