Very clean and good location surrounding with small restaurants. Bus station in front of the hotels The only issue is the smoking smell filled up with my nose. I have to open window for the day time to get a good night smell.

Hi, As part of my business trip, i stayed for 2 weeks at the Dehong hotel apartment, in Zhangzhiang Road, Shanghai. Reasons for deciding on this hotel: 1) Location Some colleagues had already stayed in this hotel a few years back, and the fact that this hotel was closer to my work place at Bisheng Road. Its located right on the Zhangziang road, and is easily accessible by Taxis and bus. There is a bus stand right in front of the hotel (which by the way i didn't use since i travelled by taxi most of the time). Although it must be said that being in the Pudong area, the area is quite far away from the main city center (read Nanjing/Lizuaji) 2)Service apartment The only room available with a kitchen in this hotel was this 2 BHK service apartment, on which i stayed. Even though i was the only one staying, the decision to go for 2 BHK was due to the availability of Kitchen only. What i liked ========= The flat was neat and clean. Everyday houskeeping staff would come and clean the rooms and replace the toiletries. There was an electronic safe (useful for keeping important documents), 3 televsions (1 in each room - though not much use to me since all have only chinese channels), split AC in each room and a kitchen having basic utensils, electric stove, chimney and hot and cold water supply. There is also a small automatic washing machine. On request to the hotel staff i was also provided with an Iron with board and an Adapter for converting my 220 V laptop to 110V. Drinking water bottles and tea bags were provided every day. There is a small flee market across the road where the hotel is and a lot of chinese restaurants. I had a hard time finding someone who could speak english at the restaurants though. There is a super market and ATM within walking distance from the hotel as well. What i didnt ========== Apart from the staff at reception, none of the staff speaks English. This can be very difficult for someone who is a non-chinese, as i experienced. Even for small things you have to explain them either through gestures or use Google translate. I used a handy Android app "trainchinese" to translate basic chinese words. I stayed at the 7th floor, and there is a discotheque or something like that nearby, At the night you can hear people singing which can be a little disturbing. Though the insulation of the windows is good so it does not bother too much. The restaurant is located on the 4th floor, but disappointingly it does not serve Lunch or dinner. Only breakfast is available for 20 Yuan. Its a buffet system for breakfast which is good though. Location wise its a big far off from the main city center (The Bund/Lizuiji/nanjing road etc.) but its closer to the Pudong International Airport. It takes approximately 20-30 minutes to reach airport from the hotel via taxis. The nearest metro station to the hotel is Jinke Road which is about 2-3 kms from the hotel and on line2 hence going to the Bund and other tourist attractions is easy. All in all, a neutral experience. Perhaps it makes sense for someone on a business trip and has work place nearby. But for tourist purpose i would recommend a hotel closer to the main city area. Hope this review is useful. Thanks :)…
