I loved this place! Excellent spot, right in the mix of things and within walking distance of most attraction. The staff where very helpful and the bar is a great place to meet people and have a chat and a meal. I stayed in a twin room and it had a great feel to it and was very clean and... More

You cannot beat the location of this hostel even though it took a while to find it. Get off at peoples square exit 11 not exit 4 which the hostel told me(exit 4 doesn't exist, hence why I got very lost). Only 5 mins walk to all the shops and food malls. And it didn't take long to the bund... More

lovely hostel, very welcoming and as beautiful as it look in the photos. My room was very quite and comfortable, stayed for one night and it was a great location to explore the city from. Walked from the hostel to the train station and also walked to the surrounding area.

I have stayed here twice now and have had a great experience both times. It's in a great location, really close to the shops on Nanjing Road and fakes market and only a 20 minute walk from the Bund. It is also really conveniently located for the Metro at Peoples Square which you can easily get to Shanghai Train Station... More

We went here in early December for 4days and the place was in a great location, when we managed to find it! Of you are heading from the metro exit by the art museum and head towards the Marriott hotel at a big cross road junction, if you walk in front of the hotel and then down the left hand... More

Pros - great location - cheap prices - service was generally friendly (especially in cafe) - lots of cheap eats on the same street Cons - private rooms have shared facilities (2 private rooms to 1 bath and 1 toilet) - sewerage smell in the lower cafe level - wireless was spotty during entire stay - general state if rooms... This review is based on a 6 people shared dormitory stay so I cannot really say how private rooms are. The location, 5 mins walk frome one of People's Square subway entrance, is the real winner. If, as myself, you are arriving to Shanghai via Hongquiao airport (usually domestic flights) it is just a 25 mins subway ride with no... More

I've been to Mingtown Hostel more than one year ago, in September 2011 during an holiday in China.. I have a real good memory of this place; rooms were very clean, tidy and cheap.. on the inside there was a nice little garden in typical chinese style with a café where you can chat with people from all over the... Somehow exists in the shadow of downtown skyscrapers on an interesting street full of shops and foodstalls. Step through the door and relax after a busy day on the streets. A little pond, a small bar and cafe and good wifi rounds out the list.

I stayed here for 3 nights in October and had a great time, the facilities were good and the place was keen. The staff in the daytime were very friendly and helpful but I did have some problems with a man working during the night, my friend had gone out with the key and I couldn't get back into my... More
